When I use to trim tool on audio files, always getting crackle on at the trimmed point of the audio file when it plays.
This problem only occurs with audio tracks.

My sound card has its own asio drivers and never had a problem like this before. It works well on Cubase, Studio One, FL.
The result is the same with different sample rate and buffer size.
512 and 1024 buffer size no changes.

is there a fix for this?

    System specs:

    Windows 10
    i5 8400
    8 gb ram
    m2 sata disk

    24 bit 48 khz
Buffer size: 256 samples on Asio 2.0 by ESI
    Cache: Normal

Never had that issue with Pro Tools 12.3 or 12.5 (Audioutopia). Do you have the PT system usage dialog up when this is occurring to view sudden spikes overall or in specific thread(s)?

    Please list the system specs:
    OS
    CPU
    RAM
    Disk(s)
PT audio configuration (buffer, bit depth, etc...)

    CPU run overall %20-25
    Disk: %0-1
    Memory: %40-50

    Everything looks normal.

8 gig if memory is just enough to run Pro Tools. Especially on a i5. The recommended minimum is 16GB.

In the Playback Engine settings, try raising the h/w buffer from 256 to 512 or 1024. For editing & playback, 1024 is a good choice.
The default Disk Cache size is 4GB. You can try raising this to match you memory size.
The "Ignore Errors' setting may also help.

I noticed something new. When I play-stop play-stop in series on imported audio without play, that crackle sound is occurring again without use trim tool.

I'm new on pro tools, could I be missing something very simple?

As mentioned above. Memory & settings. Also no unneeded background tasks. avid has a system optimization guide for each supported Windows OS version. Hopefully you have done this already for you other DAWs.

i think this can simply happen when editing audio like that, no matter which daw.. try to set a fade-out. i think that´s all that´s needed here.. if you want to add it to your regularly workflow you could also do like this guys..

(a did a quick search a youtube, not the best vid but .. that´s my bet on this issue)

Yeah, not a bug. Always set fades... Especially with sounds that have so much low end content. Or you can set auto fades in the preferences (Operation -> Misc)
