Your sound is so different that it couldn't be more different. It's quite pathetic actually. Sorry but I just comment on what I heard. I was going to post a mock up of your sound but I decided against it since I'm working on something else and I don't have enough time. However, keep making sounds and enjoy because that's what it's all about. I don't want to discourage anyone, on the contrary!

First, wrong choice of a synth to replicate sound like that. Massive can't replicate analog sounds. It's a very modern compressed sounding VSTi. It's as far from analog sounding as.. well very far. However, pair a VSTi with some good effects and you could get a really nice sound. That's the point I wanted to convey with my mock up: Charlatan VSTi through Studio Devil Amp and Valhalla Reverb. You put any VSTi through some nice guitar amp emulation and reverb or even better delay/chorus or delay/phaser and you get a really big, nice sound. In other words - you have to process it, just as the Nick Rhodes' sound is. You can't just put a raw sounding VSTi into your mix or production or claim that you "nailed" the sound but it doesn't sound anything like it.

Why do people use only raw VSTi to get the sound they want? Is it ignorance? Especially if you want to get a retro sound like that you have to keep in mind that they processed the hell out of that sound. First compressor, then chorus, and then delay, and then reverb, most probably. In the end the sound of the synth Nick Rhodes used is rather negligible, actually, because it was so processed.

 

need to get the Jupiter 8V from arturia as nick used the Jupiter 8 on the Rio album. That should be the start of the synth sound and then process it till death.It might take a while to find the right parameters fro the efx

 

I know he used Roland... but, I want to re-create in Massive to the "nearest" sound is possible...
Ofcourse, I can never get the same original sound ?!??? Who can ??? Even with Arturia stuff...

This is just pure Massive with integrated fx, there is no external fx chain and it's a really fun trying to re-create some analog sounding in this instrument.

Yeah it's most definitely NOT a Jupiter 8, and I'm not sure it's even playing the right riff... but hey, just wanted to say nice try anyway man.

 

Well who cares if its sounds exactly the same, or what gear he used. I can recall dozen of presets from different synths which have this sound right out of the box with little tweaking, and in a full mix (let's say a remake with wubwubwub sound ) no one hears a difference in a double blind test.

Of course for learning to build sounds it's a good exercise to rebuild a famous sound. But it's also good to come up with your own sounds on the long run.

The original sound may be come from a EMUlator sampler with a lot of resonance, your "version" are nice, but very simple and basic, not close to the original.

I forgot on this thread... earlier I figure out with help with friends from youtube that all my previous videos posted on youtube are in MONO !
So, this example can't be true test and it doesn't sound similar to original sound because of that. On my monitors when I create this test sound was very very close.
