I'm trying to uninstall the old version and this crap appear:

 

Are you Mac or PC? If PC download CCleaner and uninstall the old Engine version

tried ccleaner and a second engine 2 appears there but uninstalling it shows this:

 

First uninstall the new one you installed recently,
Then Uninstall the old version,
Do manual clean up, also from regedit,

 

i didn't installed any new one, i always had the super old version

 

use 3rd party unistaller software for proper unistallation.
then reboot and install what you need.

 

revo worked great, and i installed the last r2r release and everything is fine now

Engine v2.6.1.2 was the last build with Windows 7 support.

That's why I never install anything .msi, because it is nothing but trouble. Leaves loads of garbage in your OS, generally the whole .msi installation, so you end up with double the space used. Always install .msi installations in a Virtual Machine like VirtualBox or QEMU and copy the files needed for a plugin to work manually into your system. Your OS will thank you.

The only solution is for you to find the original .msi installation file and point the uninstaller to it. It's actually not the only solution, but the other one involves digging into the registry and deleting some registry keys related to this installation you're trying to get rid of and that can be tricky.

I know how to do that and I needed to do it heaps of times, because I like to delete the .msi garbage from ProgramData if I installed something from an .msi file. So, learning from my own errors, I now make my own, simple "no install" installations and avoid installing from .msi files like a plague, especially if you don't have your OS on a 1TB or bigger SSD.

I did a manual uninstall of an old Engine 2, then installed 2.8.0.58 on my Win7 PC, works fine.
BUT it looks like Win95 with ancient Magix interface, even though it claims to be 2.8.0.58 (says so in the GUI).
And all the libraries work in it.
Why does it look like Ver 1? The text in the GUI is almost unintelligible.

 

Whoa! I just tried fetching and installing that v2.6.1.2 Engine legit installer that Talula mentioned, with Win7 support. And it looks right! Thanks man.
All the libraries are still there (fixed w R2R keygen), and work fine.
I suppose there will be some libraries that won't work in the future, so I'll have to see what I do then.

 

I did that and the uninstaller still showed that error, that old version was pure smoking garbage
