Seeing a LOT of posts on the sister site re East West libraries - some of which I remember from my Windows days - nut is there a way to run these on OSC?
Without virtualisation, etc?

Mac users = very lucky because lotsa garbage not available (for free),lol.

 

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. For whatever reason, any kind of text in Play disappears when used in a Wine bottle (or CrossOver bottle - eh Crossgrider - or whatever it's called - I've used that workflow for several years, nothing new about it).

I suspect missing fonts and have tried my luck with the additional font install options in Crossover to no avail. Some linux folks managed to make it work in Wine with Winetricks. Still have to look into that. But, of course, I would prefer an integrated solution in CrossOver.

Any ideas how to fix the missing fonts issue?

 

It really is a shame that so many plugins are not kraked in mac. I’ll try all available methods - audiogridder, crossgridder, vep, netvst. Let's see which ones the best.

I couldn't try crossgridder but i tried audiogridder with one of my old windows computers. It was pretty good, great for mixing.

Yeah I have audiogridder installed and am presently installing all my AA and N4 stuff on my old Hac.
Yet to try crossgridder though so was looking for opinions?

Not a request, there's a huge difference between a request and a legitimate question.

Bold statement, so how is asking to qualify the statement a request? a simple "it's out there, it's coming, I've seen it, just wait or sista site would suffice.

 

Actually you're right, the big news now is Engine for mac, unfortunately it does not work with eastwest library. EastWest use Play sampler (still not available)

 

I have Audiogridder running on a separate machine for windows stuff. I run Play and many other applications standalone triggered from my M1 Mac. Either way a dedicated machine for windows Apps is way less hassle and gives you access to tons of stuff.

 

I think you guys are gonna be really disappointed if/when PLAY ever gets k'd for the Mac. It's basically just a more stable version of Kontakt Player with some incredibly generic libraries. I'm a legit Ministry of Rock owner (and I won't get into how much I paid for it back in 2006!) and was horrified to discover that a lot of it was just retooled stuff from their old Akai sample libraries, specifically "Guitars and Bass", which I had previously purchased for around $20. In fact, a lot of their libraries, including stuff that's being re-released now, are just repurposed Akai libraries, and while some of their newer stuff isn't bad, most third-party Kontakt libraries blow it out of the water and can be used by everyone right now.
