    Happy New Year!!!

Is there a plugin working like a compressor but not affecting a volume of loudness but a panorama? The louder sounds would be played in the centre and the silenter ones would be off the centre, left or right channel or M/S.
Or an EQ or so that spreads the sound in the same manners. The higher frequency the more off the centre L/R or M/S.
The spread would be controlled by a given range.

Maybe volcano 3 can do this. It is limited to 4 bands but have great modulation controls to achieve result similar to what you seek.

Well since panorama can't be affected by dynamics your best bet would be using a combination of a Multiband Stereo Imaging tool like iZotope Ozone one and then a dynamic Eq affecting the loudness of the Mid and Side signal.

You could create a chain where the Side information of specific bands can be externally sidechained to reduce its loudness when the Mid part is playing, or you could connect the Mid bands to the Side signal bands in a way where the Mid get upward compressed or expanded when the Side information plays.

Different results but interesting approaches, thanks for this idea, it's rare to see something clever pop up these days.

There you have a dynamic stereo imager. I'm sure there are others, but this one is pretty recent.

However, I would just use Volcano 3 or UVI Shade (like Ankit said) and modulate the panning with an envelope follower.

Disregard that, they do different thing. You need Sound Particles Energy Panner and Brightness Panner. Both aren't cracked tho.

How about automation? Some sort of widener whose amount is automated by the level?

Automation, no. That’s why we use a compressor for controlling a volume and not an automation. Of course, we can. But why not control a panorama in the same manners, based on volume or frequency? Just to make it in an easier or funnier way.

    ?
So you don't ever even automate aspects of a compressor too?
Or you don't 'ride' a fader before compression?
Otherwise, what you want could be done in a Heath Robinson way.

Split the signal Mid/Side, put compressor and expander on side, sidechain the side compressor to the mid signal and the side expander to the side signal. When the mid signal is strong, the sides would be attenuated by the compressor. When the mid signal is weak, the expander will increase the width. It will sound like shit because is very unnatural/unrealistic for the brain, but you can try and move on, others thought about all your ideas already :)

@F.L.O.W. My question is about existence of a plugin and not using an automation. Though it may work well and can be treated as a solution unless such a plugin doesn’t exist. It sounds interesting.
What would a way be to automate panorama with the volume of the sound?

We can do anything in this way, but there isn't a plugin for everything yet!
Because there is no plugin as you describe in your question, we are telling you the next best option.
But yes, I realise you just want a plugin and don't want to create anything yourself, regardless of automation.
So we all just should have answered "No!" to your question by the sounds of it!
And not tried to be helpful beyond your question.
Either way, I could tell you why it hasn't been created.
Probably because it's not actually a great idea!

Maybe my bad phrasing, I meant:
Let the width of a widener (from 0 - 100%) be automated by the level. I didn't mean 'draw it in yourself'.
In Reaper there are (various?) options to do this.

There's also Melda's bonkers MTurboCompMB. As with all multiband Melda plugins, you can change the crossover behavior to process panorama or mid-side on separate bands, with entirely different compressors or compressor settings on each band. That plugin is a freak.

@F.L.O.W. It is not a great idea until one of the big game changers would release such a plugin and then everybody would hyped about it
There is no wrong idea for creators if it helpful. Your suggestion of Heath Robinson way sounds interesting, I haven’t heard about it. Any directions to do this. Thank you.

I am in Ableton so I will try to find some solutions in M4L plugins.

@vladimir guerrero It really is a freak

@No Avenger I have read many things can be done in Reaper and not in other DAWs, especially not in Ableton.

Stereoband (32bit) is free (fixed frequency band-panner):
    https://freevstplugins.net/stereoband/
Edit: Oh, my bad. Misunderstood you. You want like an envelope follower routed to panning. There are multiple envelope followers that you can translate into panning (MIDI CC) information. So say, when you have loud/high volume you get the sound panned to the right, and when it's low in volume it's more panned to the left. And then it moves from left to right in correlation to the current loudness.

The fluctuations in the panorama spectrum are coming from the dynamics of the signal on the specific channel (L/R, M/S). So no, you can not affect the panorama spectrum of a signal without dynamic compressing the channels. The stereofield is not an independent process.
Although it would be an interesting idea.
