What are you after, just a trainer, a running shoe, a pair of everyday general wear athletic shoe? They tend to be designed with a purpose in mind.

I have a penchant for Asics for actual running and Puma for sport specific boots and cleats. For fashion daily wear I tend to cast a broad net, for non strenuous just living in and walking about Sketchers and Vans are kind of decent. Nikes are OK, but they tend to run small and thin and I have large Fred Flinstone feet.

Where do you go looking for shoes at what stores, ask for plimsolls or walking shoes at the shoe stores, John Lennon was almost always in white plimsolls so were almost all musicians at that time Jeff Beck,Clapton and just about everyone they even come in black, tan and other colors, easy to find search " plimsolls & walking shoes".They're everywhere.

 

I just bought my second pair of Under Armour Slingflex. I had a lot of similar shoes from Nike and other brands. No shoe fits me as well as this one. And they're only around 50 bucks.

Lol I feel you. Apparently HUGE shoe soles (not sure it's the right word) are trending especially in sport/sneaker shoes.
I've a couple of pairs of them because I just got tired of looking for a normal one.

And yeah, I've already made the joke several times. Y'know, with a girl friend "yours are higher, but my heels are bigger"
Some doesn't like it... so unreasonable...

I agree most modern sneakers are fugly,
a middle term between too Futurist, and Old-man Slippers.. lol

And Nike were like the pioneers in that, so not the best place to look..

I'd check Reebok or Adidas, they still have Classic 20-30yo models.. (Reebok often has up to 40% discounts if you register)
Puma used to be the most comfortable, but now they're fugly too.

Altho if it's only for Running, Asics, Nike or Solomon are well regarded.

Some of those new styles look like a sock on a sole, just dont like anything about them. I preferred it when people wore shoes.
