Shit happened, but how/why?

Have you seen anything they did after the first trilogy?
Their movies have been sucking for over a decade now. The last good thing they did was Speed Racer (which sucked story wise). Lana hadn't come out yet, but rumor about her transitioning were already spreading for years before.

 

I thought that the movie wasn't nearly up to par and to me it seemed that the entire film was just going through the paces of making a movie with everyone involved just there to cash their paychecks.

I finally got to the end of the movie after 5 different attempts.

Reminded me of Twin Peaks - The Return.

Set in the same universe as the original, but knowing that the story has already been told and therefore the only ground left to cover with any new material is nostalgia.

 

My expectations were so low that I thought it was not that bad.

Yes. There are a billion things to criticize in this movie. The music sucked so bad I almost wanted to apologize to Hans Zimmer for masturbating every night thinking about his bloated corpse. The story was basically a 2 hour long expository Q&A session. The meta quips about the original trilogy were cringe as hell, just like the Merovingian getting nostalgic about back in the day when we didn't have Facebook. The actors sucked donkey balls, but nobody watched the original trilogy for the acting either. Also, too many flashbacks for the laypublic. I get it, it's a reboot, they want to give people the old juice to prepare for another trilogy, but still. If you don't remember the old movies, the flashbacks probably didn't help much.

That being said, I was really expecting a lot worse. I think this is the best Wachowski movie (even though only Lana was involved) since Speed Racer. It's not visually perfect like the original trilogy or SR, but there are some really cool ideas (SPOILER ALERT : the original Matrix becoming game that post-reset Neo is designing? how cool is that? and the anomaly being not Neo alone, but Neo+Trinity) I also liked the new usage of bullet time, although it wasn't an original idea. And, not gonna lie, when Trinity finally remembered her identity, I was smiling like a dumb kid.

Anyway, I guess I'm in the minority who didn't hate the movie, and doesn't engage in mental gymnastics to justify their transphobia by trashing it.

It was bad, but not that bad, it had some redeeming qualities. And the weaknesses are better explained by Lana's age rather than her gender (LOL didn't even realize how crazy it sounds having to say that, but yeah, people are retarded)

 

just finished watching, yikes what a CRINGE!
2,5 hours! had to watch the dialogues on speed 1.8

I might actually have an answer..
Maybe that's not the regular Matrix, but a personalized version of Matrix from Neo's Videogame...

I don't fully remember the dialogs/shit,
but I got the idea that somehow Real Matrix and Videogame Matrix got kinda mixed together, because:
First Morpheus is an Agent on the Videogame,
But then he becomes Morpheus, and tells Neo something on the lines of "good work fusing my code with an agent"..

So I donno..
ofc movie doesn't make much sense at all,
and is not a proper Serious or too-canonical continuation of the story.

But maybe is possible that somehow in this story arc, Neo took a part in the reconstruction of the New Matrix,
and somehow kept Morpheus spirit/essence disguised as an Agent on the Videogame..
Then his memory/awareness got suppressed with Blue pills, etc..

Morpheus can also travel in/out of the Game/Matrix/Zion, further blurring the lines..


But yeah, this movie doesn't address an important aspect that was clearly seen in the first movies:
Zion is just another layer of the simulation, that's why Neo has power over the Machines,
and why the Spoon gifted by the kid can materialize in Zion..

It's a shame they didn't do justice to the whole story, and ommited or messed up such essential topics..
Architect + Oracle + KeyMaker + Seraph and more.. all missing.
No explanation of what happened after the Matrix got reseted
No explanation of what happened to Zion/rebels
No mention of the Architect or what happened with the Baby Head chief of the machines,
what kind of deal they made for the new Matrix, how the New Zion got to be, etc etc etc..

But yeah in any case,
I think the Videogame Matrix idea could be an explanation for the Shit banners..

Although Trolling cannot fully be discarded..

i have too many criticisms of matrix 4 to begin. they should have given it over to john carpenter and give him carte blanche and no backtalk from the wackowski sisters or woke hollywood.

 

I know. I know. Late to the party, dead thread... blablabla. I just remembered someone asking for a technically 3D prodigy Chinese flick made using Unreal engine 5 that I watched but didn't remembered

The bad news still don't remember the movie. The good news: seems it was made using "only" Unreal Engine 4. I thought it was an early modded version of version 5.
I think that cause I was just watching this Chinese 3D anime series which is very well made technically. Still worse than the movie. But it's a show, meaning less time and resources...
