have a merry freaking christmas!

 

Merry Christmas, wish health and happiness to everyone.

 

Was mostly a great day, then it kinda took a weird turn when I went to pick up my mom from her building, which is an all seniors home (not assisted living though). Her building is in what can sometimes be a bad area, as it's a low income area... but the building is fairly secure, as long as people follow rules of not letting others in.

Anyways, I buzz my mom, and she answers and let's me in. I enter the lobby and see an ominous looking scene. No one in site, but there's a walker, a cane, a woman's wallet on the ground, opened up, some makeup, a couple pills, and what I first thought was a box cutter or some sort of knife. I almost called 911 right at that moment (999 to the Euros, I believe), but I assessed things a bit more. I saw some sort of stain on a chair.. clear ish. So my next thought was, OK, maybe this person just had some bladder issue or was drunk and immediately ran to their apartment.

So, I grabbed the wallet and found their address on their ID. It was on the 4th floor. I went to the elevator, and saw it was at the 4th floor currently. I called it down and entered the empty elevator and the smell of booze hit me immediately. I got to the 4th floor and knocked on the door super loudly. A woman answered asking who was there and why I was there (it was something like 10:30AM at this point). I let her know I had her wallet and some of her other stuff was all over downstairs.

She opened up the door, and the first thing I saw was a lot of garbage and disorganization everywhere... which I took as meaning she was maybe a hoarder. I gave her the wallet, and then said "I was just checking that everything was OK, cause it looked like some sort of crime happened down there. I wasn't sure if you were hurt." She assured me everything was OK though. I could tell that she wasn't all completely there though.. maybe a bit taken off guard, or maybe she actually really was drunk. I told her I saw a knife or box cutter or something and was worried someone attacked her. She said "I don't remember seeing that down there". (I later on found out it was something else completely different and a lot more blunt.. some sort of tool of hers probably)

Anyways, I left after that but couldn't help but wonder though.. with the state of her house and maybe her being drunk, perhaps she just didn't have any family and it was a rough night for her. That would really suck. I hope not though. But at any rate, at least she was unharmed (for the most part)! (sorry for the downer story, but it bugged me a bit yesterday)
