Arturia V collection 8 install...Do I need to install the standalone?

Discussion in 'Software' started by Vincent Price, Dec 24, 2021.

  1. I am currently setting up my MacBook Pro from scratch and want to know if I need to install the Arturia standalone as well as the vst plugins? I will be using the plugins in Logic Pro

I see no reason to install the standalones except for maybe Analog Lab for use with installing/testing preset packs if you have a lot.
The problem with using the standalones is that you will find a great sound and start jamming like wildfire.

Well, that is not the problem. The problem is that, once you find that sound, the process of stopping, loading up your DAW, the instrument and the patch, the fire is gone

Seriously though, unless there is some need specific to Mac for installing them, I think not.

Why would you need to install the standalone version? I don't see a real reason to unless you like having to be able to immediately pull up those instruments just from your desktop screen (For example: I do this for UVI Falcon in my case). You should be fine just using them as a VST in your Logic Pro.

  6. So I have ended up having to restore from my Lacie 2TB hard drive, Am I ok to go and get rid of the standalone version?
