Oftentimes the "baddies" are domestic, many are quick to forget it and ride on blind faith when in reality there is zero reason to have such faith. I mean even being a nice person in today's society WILL get you killed. Nobody especially any government or their lobbies look at people as anything but profit. They don't give a rats ass about you or your family, they never have and they never will.

Yes freedom is the ability to choose but if the entire automotive industry goes electric then within a decade a fleet of regular cars won't be much of a choice anymore so there won't be that freedom. Just keep looking at China, their 1984 is concrete right now. Their credit scores, their social scores, their facial recognition and their lack of freedom is where the entire world is headed.

Every nation is following suit. Not sure why you are quoting baddies like they are a specific group of people (lol) more than the ideology of a slave world that's upon everybody like I've been saying. It's the gears of inevitable, dark change that I'm talking about here. Neuralink (like) tech putting chips into ones head.

Covid paving the way for everything. None of this is freedom to choose, all of it is to build up the matrix that's already here. Feminism and gender mutilation ruining the family so big bro gets to be your religion and family.

The used batteries will be recycled and reused.
In a city nearby where I live the street parkers use the electricity from the street lamps, which have a charging connection integrated. Since streetlights are ubiquitous in this country (and more than there are cars), this is a solution as elegant as it is simple.

(However, the problem of how to transport the electrical power for many millions of cars from the power plant to the place of consumption (battery loading station) is still unsolved, because the lines are not designed for such a high current. So we still need a few years in Central Europe as well)

Not to derail the thread, I am not even sure we could start a thread about the worse of humanity we have ever witnessed in person...

Baddies as you call them are most definitely people, you still not thinking primitive enough.

In your scenario all has gone to shit there are no more groups just small groups lead by wannabe warlords and the few who are wired for it. You can't remove technology and keep that technocrat group mind control they are opposite poles. There are some wild places on this planet, if you are really that worried about it, I think it's worth considering a move.

The whole electric versus gas debate goes out the window because the wilder it gets the more important those two pegs the lord gave you become.

Anyway, like I said before choice is choice.

I don't care about the green side of electric cars, I just like the way some of the new ones drive, full stop.

I have private parking at home and my own spot at work. If the world goes to shit, I am not too worried about it, I will just take other people shit and if they survive me they'll thank me for it. I also sleep like a baby at night as other than as an intellectual construct I have no moral compass whatsoever. Been there, done that, never lost any sleep over it and never even give it a second though.

No I've seen them set on fire and set the car next to them on fire which looks lethal like those aeroplanes that drop out of the sky with lithium batteries on board on one of the air crash investigations nor would I use the new E10 fuel thats supposed to break older cars that they are trying to force on everyone. Apparently Henry Ford made a Car out of Hemp that made hemp plastics stronger than steel and ran on hemp bio-fuel (really clean).. You can convert any petrol to use Hydrogen and just pull the fuse when you want to go back to petrol and uses a couple of teaspoons of bicarb of soda with distilled water for 3,000 mile and supposed to be much cleaner too and the gas is only created as and when required so not dangerous

But I guess you're interested in music, right?:winker:

It's a long time I'm not in that business, but wow in mid 90's we had huge problems even to hipot test ducts and transformers, there was one guy from Hipotronics with a resonance device trying to reach 1MV DC for 1min no load, but it was tripping continuously because of moisture, at the end he gave up for 800kV.

How the hell are they gonna make insulation test with nominal 1.1MV? They should reach at least 1.6 or 1.8 multiplier, I don't have a clue about rules now, I guess are still the same like IEEE.

Another question - at such high voltage (and power) how do they step-down to AC? Inverters?

Notes gleaned from my previous links...
"Since modern thyristors can switch power on the scale of megawatts, thyristor valves have become the heart of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) conversion either to or from alternating current."

and they are huge! (for scale - see the guy at the bottom of the picture)
I think this one is on loan from @No Avenger's studio.:)

It's less about a certain group of people when the ideology of 1984 is being pushed on the entire world en masse. That's what I have a problem with, not baddies or whatever. The thing I'm talking about is too large to stop already because the tech china uses is already in many other nations besides them. It's not one thing or another, it's a fleet of different things working together for one common goal. More slavery than we have to already experience because we have to hold down jobs. Tagging us with chips like cattle is the beginning of the end.

Most Germans tried to tell everyone to chill out and that things aren't that serious in WWII but that only created paranoia. Real question, lets say you chip your head. What do you think happens after? Gold plated streets with chocolate roses growing out the side walk cracks?
