Nothing like this has changed about the Virus. you are getting upset over nothing. unless you were trying to get away using presets and thought no-one would figure them out.

Its been a while sorry! Just some updates....our project is still very much active and we are working on it daily.

If you are wondering why the GUI is taking so long to implement its because our JUCE developer vanished into thin air, hopefully we will hear back from him soon, you have to remember that nobody gets paid with this project and its all done from the heart.

We are hopefully going to be adding some more features to the Emulator in its current state over the Christmas period so keep you eyes peeled, and thanks for your patience

Just discovered and tested it and I think it's rad! Seems to be quite a piece of engineering ... I'm struggling with the (non)interface, but was able to send some programm changes. XD Great work!

Spoiler alert: Virus Ti, Waldorf XT and the Novation Supernova are all digital synths not analoge. Oops! They all run on the Motorola Dsp running assembly code in a metal box. So yes, they do have a cpu, ram, etc just like your computer. Sorry..

What are news about stability/performance/CPU consumption improvements, and sonic improvements (such as recent UI addition and lol_catz beta fixes over 1.2.0 give too much overdrive/distortion on some presets, something wrong here)?

why don't you connect to discord and download it directly from there? 1.2.0 is available from 21/10 in attachment .. otherwise visual studio is a good way to stay up to date

Havin issue with the vst3 version not being seen by Ableton, VST2 version is great. HUGE thanks for the work that u do man!

 

That's the whole point of being able to create an exact replica with software.

I've been playing with the new DSP56300 [and Virus C v6.6 ROM] for two days and I really like the GUI like that. I could work with it, no problem! Except maybe disable other channels when in single mode so it's easier to edit, as now it involves a bit too much scrolling. Also, when in multi mode, it would be really handy to have some additional outputs. 8 or full 16. I'm working with Reaper 6.24 on Linux and 5.99 on Windows 7. I didn't test it on Mac yet.

On my main computer [W7 and Debian Linux 10] I'm using i7-6900K at 4GHz [no speedstep or any power saving, c states and that shit] and version 1.2.1 uses around 2-3% more CPU. With v1.1.9 it never exceeded ~10% but now I see 10-13%. So It seems like it uses around 2-3% more than v1.1.9.

Almost all sounds have artefacts and doesn't sound good, but I said "almost" ;). It's interesting that some sounds do not exhibit such behaviour, so it could be that some parameters are creating the problem?

Well anyway, at 10-13% of CPU all sounds should sound smooth. My guess is that there is some ASIO/JACK buffering problem. DSP56300 emu is really too latency hungry. In Linux, I see it introduces 563 samples of latency and I'm using JACK at 256 samples of latency, so PDC in Reaper jumps to 768 due to DSP56300 needing such big latency/audio buffer. However, when I'm playing the sounds there is no such latency! I feel like it's about couple of ms at the most, so 256 samples. There is something fishy about it. ;)

One other problem I've encountered is when I use program change from my Remote SL keyboard, it doesn't show the change in the plugin, but it sounds like another preset, so it's hard to know which preset you're using. This may be only Linux VST2 version related since I still haven't tried it in W7.

I really like the sound of Virus C! I really like the programmability and the simple GUI like this. It would be so awesome if it could just sound smooth like other synths. When I render channels to WAV, it sounds alright, but the problem is that sometimes you're not sure it's the artefacts you hear, or it's part of the sound. I like making gritty, distorted sounds.

Thank you so much @Ayahuasca and your chaps on Discord who are making so much effort to make it work properly. I suppose it's this great challenge that drives them. I know I like a good challenge, too.

In my mind, aside from these artefacts that appear intermittently every couple of seconds, this is almost there to be used for making music!

p.s. Reaper can't see VST3 version in Reaper on Linux, but I don't care as VST2 works fine and I still prefer VST2 anyway. Since I didn't test it in W7 yet, I wonder if CPU will be lower with ASIO and maybe less artefacts in the sound? I'll test it on my main PC in W7 tomorrow and post the findings.
