New Amp Sim which sounds very good imo.

 

I gotta be honest, I love Neural DSP, but I wish they focused a bit more on clean amp sims.

 

Archetype Petrucci has 2 clean amps (1 of those is a piezo amp) ... What do you want more? xD

 

Downloaded the trial a while ago. I must say that this is probably their most versatile amp sim so far (feels like I'm saying this about every new Archetype ).

I would have liked amp 3 and 4 to have a bit more traditional Mesa control layout, but since it's an "Archetype" that's tailored for Petrucci's tones I guess they didn't need the full graphic EQ etc. I'm not sure if amp 3 is a MK or a Recto type of amp, but if you turn the "tight" control all the way down, the rest of the tone controls work very much like a Recto. I guess the amps can be hybrids of different Mesa amps as well.

 

Has anyone of you faces the "Gotta catch em all" kinda mentality, like where you got a lot of amp sims but use barely like 3?

Any idea what the amps are based on? It's Petrucci, so obviously my first guess would be that Mesa Boogie Mark series must be at least one of them, but… they look suspiciously like PRS Archon to me?

Sí, es muy útil para la gente que es demasiado perezosa para afinar la guitarra de nuevo. También es muy útil si sólo quieres probar algunas ideas en afinaciones más bajas rápidamente. Ya sea tocando en solitario o en la mezcla. También suena realista.

Neural DSP have a tendency to prioritize high gain amps. Their Archetype models always have at least one clean channel, but except for the Cory Wong model they sound similar. The Fortin models are also mainly high gain amps. And then there's the distortion plugins etc. etc.

I wish they'd put all their know-how to make one really good, versatile clean amp sim. You can always add distortion pre or post, but it's kinda annoying when your amp sim goes into full distortion when the gain knob is past 0.5

Not really. I like to try most amp sims and just play around with them, but in the end I only use the 3 Neural amp sims I own for production. Archetype Nolly, Archetype Cory Wong and Fortin Cali does everything I need (and more).

I also own Parallax, but I don't use it much tbh. I generally go for Ampeg type of bass tones with the Brainworx SVT Classic, and for more distorted tones I actually prefer Squashman by Saike over Parallax!

 

No need to be aggressive, mate. I think most here have the 'test them all and use a few' kind of mentality.

 

Not being aggressive mate, I have got that mindset and I have to some extent washed it off now, but I had that hoarder mindset, now even I'm moving towards the 'Test if works for me' thought process. Just wanted to know if others have dealt with the same thing
