Yes, StandardClip is one of the best clippers around. I found LVC one pretty bad. Have you tried Voxengo OVC-128? I really like it. But I prefer the soft clipper in my Drawmer DL241... well hardware ist hardware, eh? On the other hand DBX 166XL sounds rather harsh [it's simple diode clipper], but if used gently on drums it can sound great. Sometimes I process the whole drum bus through it.

With clippers one has to be veeery gentle. Listen to the transient. Leave just enough to move the speaker driver nicely. There has to be some kick left in it, well depending on the sample and I am talking about drums here. You have to be able to hear it, adjust to fit the mix, not make a pancake out of it just for the sake of it.

Digital limiters? Well, I find them most useful for making sure the master is within appropriate range for the platform. TP -1dB, short term LUFS between -12/-14. That's it.

Sorry for all the edits, my mind is scattered. Wife pondering a divorce, money is hard to come by, cheap wine is flowing, all kind of troubles come with that, sick mother, dog has had a diarrhoea for a week, 7 cats need food... it's a huge "jambalaya" here and it's hard to focus on things. There is this thing I noticed with StandardClip clip is that its not linear clip after a few db, its a slanted line, the graph shows it as well. Is that how clippers work?

 

Oh, that was the one where my cpu jumped! I hadn't bounced everything down though.
But then I never went back to try it on a mixdown.

If you mean how they choose to show the clipping, then I don't think that's a graph it's just showing the levels of the audio, and where the peak is.
Or maybe I've misunderstood you.

 

I think I might grab Smart Limit, it does sounds impressive. I've been doing good with DMG Limitless.

He looks like someones little sister from far away but sounds like someones older sister up close. Must be all the snake oil that's affecting him better than fish oil.

The graph which at the bottom in the center which shows the waveform in white and the reduction in red. The reduction isn't completely a straight line, it increases with time. Idk if you understand
