can i do it on my own or its not worth the time to learn to do this? i will also need parts to open the laptop i guess....so maybe its just better to take it to a professional?

    or is it easy?

It's not difficult if you know what you are doing, if you are not technically inclined at all take it to a shop, I've had friends that screwed up their laptops trying to do repairs themselves.

It depends on the laptop. You have to specify the exact model to get at least a generic answer..

Look up your exact model on youtube, most likely somebody has done a tear down to walk you through it. Still, almost all laptops are modular, they're built by components, so yes u can remove your keyboard and replace it with the same model if u wish. It's generally -pretty easy, I have done it loads and never used a guide.

You will probably need a computer repair toolkit if you do not have real tools. Small screwdrivers for certain, and sometimes Tamper-Proof Torx bits. Around 20$ usually, any computer repair store will have them.

remember that when you take it apart you will be voiding any warranty, should it still have one.

Most laptops just need a spudger tool (don't use a screwdriver!) and it's just a case of unplugging the keyboard ribbon and fitting the new one; you don't usually need to unscrew the cover. It's a bit fiddly, but not difficult - also keyboards are pretty cheap, generic. Easy DIY. The weird ribbon wiring is quite flimsy and delicate, so if you're rly clumsy it may be a job for someone else?
Honestly, connecting headers on a desktop is moar fiddly, so...?
