I have a bunch of old Mac Pros lying around. You can pick them up really inexpensively and fully up their spec for far less than the cost of a decent PC.

In my case I run Windows via VMFusion and link it all to my main Mac via the incredible Vienna Ensemble Pro. The great thing about VEP is that should I open an old session on my main Mac that contained Windows plugs running on the other Mac, VEP will automatically detect that event and open up the session as though it was native and operating on just one computer. But the load is spread over two (or three).

The other advantage of this setup is that you can use VEP and your second Mac as another CPU for larger sessions that are only using Mac native plugs.

    Seamless operation.

Right, I should've added that this combi can be useful if you want to use plugins that are Win only.

But please, (@boing_cr and @madbuzzin), stop the the PC vs Mac discussion, that's not the point here.

Some people are so hopelessly driven by partisanship that they're essentially automatons.

My experience with Apple has been a little disappointed. I have an iMac 27" 2014 , iPad 2 and a Macbook Pro 2015. My iMac has a green vertical line in the screen that I don't know what happened there. I'm afraid to take it to apple. Apple is crazy expansive. My iPad 2 can't be upgraded and its slow like hell. I only can listen music on it. My Macbook pro hit me twice. First was the screen and the second time was the mother board. I spent us1200 repairing those two. I ended building a PC that I can fix by myself. Now I use both just in case something happens. The only thing I complain is about high resolution in Windows compared to Mac.

    Good luck...:)

    Yikes.

    That's a terrible user experience.

Ive never had a problem with Mac hardware outside of warranty and even on the one occasion that I did (iPod issue) take it back to Apple outside of warranty, they replaced them immediately free of charge, which was somewhat incredible.

I don't know where you reside but here in Sydney there are many Apple repairers that charge pennies on the dollar compared to Apple and are an excellent alternative.

    Just saying.

Why buy a PC. Just install windows as dual boot on your mac (much easier then the other way around) and see how it works for you!

this one is an easy Hell No. And it is nothing even to do with Mac vs PC concerns. You have a computer that works, use it. If it is too slow, replace or upgrade it at some point. You can run any DAW and Audio Editor you could want on your Mac already. You obviously do not need 2 systems for your projects, or you would have mentioned this.

so you are going to pay something like 1000$ just to run some cracked plugins that you probably don't need? If you have that kind of spare cash to blow for some plugins, just go UAD. they will take of that, no problem. :winker:

there are probably much more "needed" things you could do with the money. Monitoring/room treatment, various hardware synths, effects... I would add another computer, and especially one running a different operating system, dead last. sorry about being practical for a minute. :)

Strictly Mac and despise Windoze, but I think this is hilarious - and totally fitting. Also despise Mac, but hate Windoze more.

PC user since 1991. It's just a question of what you know best. Buy a PC and use both of them. Then, you'll have both MAC and PC user knowledge and experience :)
