...And 2 years ago there were people trying to deny it and convince the public that it's not gonna happen.

    P.S. I'm so glad I ditched Kontakt.

Am I missing something here?? It doesn’t appear to be the full NI product line, just some select products.

As long as my Komplete won't stop working, don't really care.

If USD 9.99 is a month for KOMPLETE maybe that is a good deal?

Not the whole suite. Some synths and content. Lame.

Okay , that is really lame... Anyways, they are cracked all the way, and the whole line is floating around... In that case for me that would be irrelevant news then :)

Sure. Then add $9.99 for every other bit of software you use. Its coming to that. Want to use all the amount of plugs you may be using now if you're the typical gear slut? That'll be $200 a month thank you. Using Adobe and other kinds of software? That'll be $4,000 a year in all. Fuck all these subscription companies, lol

Not Yet. Testing the waters no doubt.

    From their blog:
    https://blog.native-instruments.com/komplete-now/
The obvious question is, will they be true to their word in five year, or in ten, or later?
Also, will they split a part of their products away from what they now call the "perpetual portfolio", similar to how iZotope are doing it?

I have a question regarding the subscription model: What if you use warez, but subscribe for a month and say you created your viral hits using their stuff during that specific month when the police come knocking at your door?

How silly. No police are going to come knocking at your door. They are already hiding under your bed.

If you run NI Service Center and it finds unlicensed versions of NI products, it will deactivate them yes. So you would have to either hide the warez by switching them onto another drive or perpetually re-activate them.

But my take on "is it worth it?" is this:

You do get decent stuff, but it's squarely aimed at modern hip hop/trap kind of things. The libraries you get with it are good, Hybrid keys especially and Retro Machines ain't half bad, and if that "bespoke" version of Battery is anywhere near the standard version it's good, no idea what kits it has bundled in it though.

But as it looks like it's for a budding beatmaker the choice of Massive X is perplexing to me. It's an awesome synth, I love it, but it's not exactly beginner friendly being a ridiculously complex bastard. Also, you get a delay and a reverb, but they've omitted their comp/eq/dist fx, what the fuck NI?

So it's not for me because I already got this shit, and I just don't do subscription services. And I don't know if there are other similar "production suites" subs available for a similar price that would be better.

As @mr.personality said, testing the waters here for sure.

I don't think it's true, I have several legit NI products and was able to demo a cracked Massive in parallel without any trouble.
Anyway, this is not what I meant, the scheme was to have Ni warez installed and to get the subscription for one month (without even installing it), just to show you technically owned the stuff at one point if asked.

What did you replace Kontakt with? To me it's irreplaceable. It seems to be a monopoly with the level it's gotten to. There are similar library hosts but nothing that has as much content, not even close.
I think this might only be the beginning, they might add more products later on.
Massive X isn't going to be on a subbed plan is it? I didn't see it on the list yet.

To me, Massive X had a minimal learning curve. They just made things more fun in my opinion, barely re-ranged compared to other synths. Sure it has some flaws or at least things to be desired as I have some ideas on how it could become more of an ideal user experience. I actually seldom find a synth that's perfect because once you dive in deeper you start to realize that every synth you use has some pitfalls/cons. Even my favorite ones, actually especially my favorite ones. haha

Anyways, I thought it was neat how NI to include names of knobs that had emotion and feeling instead of the usual technical terms. Every section is named appropriately. But once you open the drop-down menu underneath in unloads all these fun names along with the usual expected ones. It promotes experimentation and unpredictability which I appreciate when doing some sound design.

This is from the Komplete Now Page:

So it's the only "real" synth there, unless you count Battery. The rest are Kontakt libraries (and the two FX), which I presume are run on Kontakt Player.

If they include the preset packs with MX then there's plenty to do without having to look under the hood, and yeah, I like how the macro control are named with a certain whimsy as well

But for a beginner knob twiddler the rest can be pretty daunting IMO, if you ask me NI would've done better to include the original Massive, then Super-8, FM8 and perhaps something like TRK or Prism.

God damn that's fucking lame as fuck. That's such an odd list. They only showed several items on their main page but it didn't show a full list so I didn't see Massive X. So many people already replaced Battery and this will hurry the rest of their user base to follow suit.
