Looking at their webpage, it reminds me of N-Track Studio or Garageband. It's quite old software so I forgot what it actually has. It must be really simple with a really small number of features. When Steinberg gives out something for free, or any bigger company for that matter, it is always questionable. Maybe nobody bought a copy in the last 10 years. Reaper took over the whole cheap end of the workstation market with its $60 price.

I will possibly give it a try in a virtual machine, just because I'm a curious type. :)

What did you find out so far, Hennessey?

Sequel is discounted for a quite awhile... More than 5yrs or so... Well the whole idea was to be a competition to Ableton, but they failed... But when i look back, I see that this software was is a early beginning of new way developing of Cubase DAW with zones, etc...
Anyways, I find it pretty fine, because it is little bit nostalgic to have it.
I mean, there is already a FULL license from Team VR, but who knows, maybe someone don't wanna go that way, but legit...

And for me it is a big surprise that they are literally revive ancient software and giving it for free... There is a reason, what exact God knows....

I hope someone will find this useful for use ;)

Help me, I didn't understand that question :)

Regarding Sequel, just register new account or use an existing one, and request activation code.
You will get download access code via email and you can use it with Download Assistant, and from there it will be registered... I personally didn't tried myself, because I don't use it, i have played around on my second PC long time ago, it is quite interesting, and there is FULL license from Team VR on my elicenser, so i don't need this... But for someone who don't use k'ed elicenser, this is fine offer...

I did 6 moths ago, and I kept it for couple days before i reset system... It was interesting experience just to use loops... :D
There is link to homepage , so anyone can decide for itself... It is free, and that comes from Steinberg, which is odd....

Reaper is like the complete opposite of Sequel. It's a versatile sequencer that is highly customizable, but comes with no content at all. Sequel is a software for beginners, musicians without much technical experience, or just users who want to have own (background) music for other projects. So it simplifies a lot of these things and let you focus on the musical/creative parts. It comes with a big loop library and there are also several expansion packs available. Sequel aims at the same market as Magix' Music Maker, just with a slightly different approach.
You can still use it to sketch ideas and then import the projects in Cubase for further work.

    messed around a bit
    1. 32 bit only so my vsts dont work without bridge
    2. only three fx slots per track
    3. UI is so so.

Good for a free software though, lots of sounds.

It was basically a Garageband equivalent for PC, only that GB is much more powerful these days.

Steinberg just released a free "lofi" piano, that actually sounds decent if you turn most of the lofi parameters off:

And there is also a "soft piano" type library that has been made available for free in the past for Halion Sonic: https://sonicatoms.com/novel-piano/
