Yesterday he sadly died from cancer at the age of 72 in NewCastle/UK. His only hit song was "Music" which he played more than 3000 times on several occassions and made him reasonable rich. Although he played several instruments, he did not manage to write a decent successor of "Music" (was my first love) through the years.

    R.I.P. John.

The first time I heard Music I thought it was an Alan Parsons Project record (a "band" I love). I wasn't that far after all.
I still have the 2th original album, Stranger in the City, a masterpiece of its own.

    John Miles - Highfly (1975)

Miles later accompanied Joe Cocker and Tina Turner on their tours as keyboardist, guitarist and duet partner (on behalf of Bryan Adams). He appears on Tina Turner's concert record Live in Europe (1988) and on Cocker's album Night Calls (1991) on the Hammond organ. He also wrote Now that the Magic Has Gone for Cocker, which can be heard on the same album with Miles on guitar. Miles also toured with The Rolling Stones and Elton John. In March 1990 Miles took part with the title Where I Belong in the British preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest and finished second.

In 2007 he performed together with Pur in the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen and sang their song Abenteuerland in German. From October 2008 to April 2009 he toured America and Europe again with Tina Turner. At the Night of the Proms event, Miles has performed regularly with his Electric Band as a solo act, duet partner and backing band for the other artists since the first event (1985).

I thought "Now that the Magic has Gone" was his best song.
    Inevitably a prophetic title. R.I.P.
