I finally finished putting my computer room in order, upping the memory and also the addition of a few other nifty upgrades, Now I'm ready for any and all that R2R bestows my way. I should at least in theory be able to run at least 5 or six instances of AA plugins together, so let the Festival Of Lights begin.

Some are very good some so so. El Rey is one of the finest ones, but would like to see a version without that low end bump one day.
Its not like its hardware where you accept it, you can switch it with a button in digital everything is possible, just give people what they want smh.

Latest releases and upgrades are really something special.
Also, no other developer does that, upgrades their units with additional gear, sometimes newly resampled for better sound and upgraded visuals.
    And the upgrade is free.

...and that's why I voted "I have love and hate relationship with AA."
Some products are just plain awesome. If, like me, you got Celestial for free than your surely realize it's one the most badass plugins released.... for free !
What I absolutely HATE about AA, is the sample rate situation. two or 3 years ago 48khz sounded HORRIBLE, and today it's sounds different or maybe BETTER than 96khz in my rig. this has a hugggge impact on CPU ressources.

Is Modula abandonware ? thats 300$ down the drain for me.... feel so sorry if some spend 999$...

Silver sounds nice, but I would NEVER use in a full mix. Actually I stopped buying products since Sienna.

HWMC has something, with the ADC's and stuff, not sure if it's worth the investment (even if I have the 55% reduction). But basically it gives a sound like when I'm going OTB. could be cool for a mobile rig. Or I could just turn on my summing box.

Or I forgot the worse part, a TRIAL plugin can have a different sound than a purchased one.

But they do have a couple really really awesome stuff.

    Hate them. Love them

I use (not so often) some of their free plugins. I always think "will demo something bigger soon" but at the end I never do. So, I ask:

why the BIG BIG guns never use AA plugz in their video tutorials?

I mean Brauer, CLA, Scheps, TLA, Clearmountain, Blake (ok Pensado endorsed an EQ, but I never saw him using AA plugins). You can clearly see the entire plugins folder of Brauer and CLA in their videos, they got everything, but never saw an AA plugins put on a guitar bus.

Did I miss them using? Otherwise, why?

I prefer 3rd-party Nebula libaries, but I am enjoying AA Sienna, specifically the Spitfire studio.

They are all in the paid endorsement business, so no pay no promotion.

good point, but I added: I didnt even see the AA folder

We all know that CLA is not endorser for UAD, but he has all UAD plugz and saw him using, and thats another good point. You mean that Brauser uses AA plugins but doesnt show? eheheh He stated many times that Valhalla is the best computer reverb for him, and we know that devoloper doesnt make endorsement.

I rest with my doubt, if I dont see I dont belive.

Yeah not everyone will use it but some do. For instance, Mike Dean does use his Gainstation plugin (he was live on Twitch mixing a song - also the livestream wasn't sponsored or a promo to AA)

You can get modula for 100$ regular price. But they could just offer it for free like Silver, since it would encourage you to buy more plugins and also stay with the aqua world.
Mytek Tape is lovely for sure. I will get it eventually.
I did noticed that about trialing a plugin, but so far it has always been on the positive side, cleaner, richer sound.

All I would say is we should use our own ears to make decisions, and don't depend on the words from famous producers who now make a living from mix tutorials and product endorsement deals. If it sounds good it is good :)

Until it gets cracked and, as with most things, the hype passes. I downloaded their Aquarius a couple of times, trying to see just what all the fuss is about. Then, deleted it. Not saying it sounds bad but I just could not see anything special that can't be achieved with other plugins. Not to mention all the "workarounds" in order to run them (and I do have a fairly decent setup). And this brings me to another point - since when should artist mold their creative processes around plugin developers? For f'''' sake, shouldn't be the other way around? Like with most technologies today, it's like we are all together losing a plot here...

As for the Big Guns...not sure how truly relevant they are anymore. Sure, it also depends on the genre itself, but there are "kids" nowadays that are leaps and bounds ahead in terms of both mixing and production.

I complete agree, even though I think some AA plugins do sound great.

I think the reason for that is that those big mixers value working fast and smoothly, which the clunky, slow AA plugins don't allow. At their level they can get a great sound out of much simpler plugins and don't need that extra "3D magic analog mojo".

It works faster than their old analog hardware and tape machines, besides they don't do mixing anymore they just make tutorials about mixing

AA tech will get more and more usage since the cpu power is growing with each year.
They were obviously ahead of the computer technology.
I can imagine they will be easier to use in a few years and by 2025-2030 you will be able to run many AAs with an average pc without any problems.

Most of them mixed on a console which is faster than any plugin. Hardware also gives you instant response, instead of the "wait 2 seconds to hear the change" in AA plugins.

I was joking, but you still have to setup the hardware for each session, including all the outboard and clean the tape machines, etc. :winker:
