Some of these have been incredibly underwhelming compared to other VSTS I have, notably the pianos (Then again I'm a pianoteq junkie). Then others like key suite and bohemian violin have been enjoyable, but it's all subjective.

I'd like to hear everyone's take on their favorite so far, and which are going to rot on your PC VS which will actually be used to make SONGS.

 

I am wondering the same, I have avoided every natural instrument library for falcon so far because, let's be honest, they usually sound like shit and I already have kontakt with nice orchestral natural libraries.

I have been avoiding choir, strings, guitar, pretty much any natural library. The releases seem non stop so far, what's actually worth downloading?

 

All have been underwhelming for me, especially since I've been eyeing vintage vault for years.

UVI samples synths as if they are trying to preserve their legacy for future generations. They don't elevate them like Arturia does.

For example their Mellotron bank, theres no attack/release, I get that the original doesn't have it, but still, its a plugin, you can impart some tweaks.

If I want "classic" synth presets, Their Synth Anthology 2/UVI Workstation that I bought years go does a good enough job.

IMO Arturia does a way better job for if I want deep control over synths which is why they got my money this BF.

Edit: I stand corrected regarding the adsr, however rest is still true.

mellotron with attack?

 

Im avoiding getting the analog 90s synth expansions, because lets be honest, you can literally do that exact same shit with Arturia V collection, there is so many synths in that pack plus with so many presets, you really don't need those expansions IMO.
Arturia V Collection got you covered for 90s analog synth stuff.

I am also not getting those Piano expansions because I feel like I can do the exact same shit with Pianoteq AND have a smaller file size too because its not using samples, I was never the biggest fan of Piano sampling anyway.

Frankly I'm more of a synth pad atmospheric type of person, so I have been tryna get the expansions that have atmospheric pads and all that good stuff in them. I can send a screenshot of all the Expansions I have gotten so far. IMO I would like to see the "Atmospherics" expansion get released.

You can send the list of those that you consider good libs (pad, etc) because I agree with you in the acoustic instrument libraries I can do the same with other tools and less GB

 

Why not? Great for shaping sounds when layering.
Just like how listeners don't care if you used an actual Mellotron (not that they'd even know what it is), they wouldn't care if the emulation you used was the "truest" to the original.

Guys the ravenscroft 275 library is great... actually for me, ravenscroft is one of the best sounding pianos in digital world i 've heard, it has some midrange magic that for some reason its still present in a dence mix (metal mix with modern guitars) without a lot of tweaking, maybe it just works for me... i dont know.

The ones I have in my collection that I think are good, but doesn't have as many/good pads:

Eternal Funk (not meant for atmospheric stuff)
Hypnotic Dive
Inner Dimensions
Savage
Expressive E - Helium (this is meant for MPE I didn't know that before I got it so some presets just doesn't have any sound)

Ima be clear this is going based SOLEY on PADS and atmosphere, all of these are good for other stuff too

if you want just get all of these

None of them

I see people ranting about how great Drum Designer is, yet it doesn't even allow you to go off-grid other than the swing control, and it can't load any other drum samples. I have free drum sequencers that are more feature-rich than that.

The pianos all sound painfully bright like every single Steinway library ever.

The synth packs are uninspired drek with basic stuff like '50% pulse width pad', woo, I'm so impressed!!

I'll probably give it all a few more days to see if anything interesting shows up, then delete it and not even reinstall UVI workstation because honestly, the copy of Digital Synsations I own is just as uninspiring, and I can't ever see me buying anything from UVI now.

 

I like all the packs.

No need to be unsure about it, it's the best. Had it since it was released. The fact that it's now "available for everyone to try" is in my opinion a goldmine gift for all pianists here

 

stuff from Gospel Musicians is much more inspiring. Esp the Neosoul keys library. i bought it a few years ago and it was my only rhodes ep workhorse.

 

come on guys falcon is pretty damn good. it's easy enough to use getting started and you can find a good sound pretty fast. and it's free to try thanks to R2R and all the collaborators.

 

"It's free to try" isn't really a compelling argument when it sounds pretty meh, and there are many other things that are "free to try" that don't sound meh.
