Here´s the thing:
I´m working on a track for the current collab Album. I wrote and recorded plenty of ideas but the song has not structure yet.
A girl came to my house a few days ago to share with me some vocal ideas for the song.
We recorded stuff the entire day in PTools LE. Because the song has no structure yet, I placed in the session the main phrase/reef and duplicated it several times, and my friend improvised loooong spontaneous and various takes with different intensities over it.
Now I ended up with tons of long improvised takes with really interesting content and I want to organize the takes to work with them in the arrangement as short samples in FLoops (my loved handy daw for writing). Now I want to listen the entire takes over the main phrase and highlight and save just some small moments that could be used in the arrangement. I need to do that to tag/label the interesting slices and have a more clear management of the parts in FL. There´re some improvised lyrics, whispers, single notes, abstract vocables... lots of stuff and I want to leave out all the mistakes, tryouts and also chatting during the recording session. In that way I can have some sort of organized final vocal library and play and move around just the good parts. I want to avoid slicing and re-listening thousands of times the looooong takes (they`re really long ) in FL to improve my workflow and write fast (I´ve to mix the track also... ).
There´s a way to do this? There's some shortcut for saving highlighted small parts into new isolated/individual audio files? FL has the make unique feature, something like that is what I´m looking for in PTools, or any fast method you know.
I hope I´m clear, I´m not trying to consolidate or bounce anything.

Consolidate

you can mute or delete the parts that you dont like; and after selecting the parts that you want to keep, highlight the regions(parts you want to keep) from bar 1 or from the beginning of the song that you used to record the vocals, go to -edit menu and choose -consolidate regions. that will create an isolated/individual track with only the parts you selected.

or you can export and omf file and open the project in FL (i dont know if it will work, i dont have FL) so you can use your DAW.

Also you can highlight the bars that contain the particular region that you want to save and just render it in .wav or aiff with a new name in some new categorized and organized folders, e.g. "short vox, long vox, licks, whispers, one shots, hums, moans, groanings " etc.

Also if you would like to customize further each rendered sample to be able to recognize easier what kind of sample it is, e.g. in the folder "Licks" if you render a sample when that girls say "Yeeaah" then name that file "Yeeaah" depending on how long the sample sounds. If the sample sounds too long, then name it "Yeeeeeeeah"... if it's too short then "Yeah". If it sounds like "Yeaaheeyo" then name that sample "Yeaaheeyo". Just listen tot the parts you want to render and pay more attention on the sound and describe shortly how it sounds by naming the sample based on that characteristics you heard.

 

Hi, maybe I wasn´t clear enough. I dón´t want to consolidate and I´m not asking how to label the takes. *no*

Let´s say I open my PT session with the entire long takes recorded in various tracks. While I´m listening I´m deleteing the unusable parts. I end with lots of small usable regions of the takes with blank spaces in between. What I want to accomplish is to save all this resultant usable regions as new independent audio files, not one consolidated track, and with the less clicks or 'save as' procedures posible.

Saving slice by slice by hand is taking so much time and I think maybe there´s a way to make this easily and quickly, like saving all the active/resultant slices from each track at once (as individual samples), named by number series (Voice 000 - Voice 001 - Voice 002...) and then renaming/labeling them once they´re already exported.

 

Then i don't know if its possible to save new takes straight from the daw without to render them as long as you want them new and organized at the same time...
