With oversampling on? I always use realtime oversampling off with automatic highest oversampling when rendering. The latest update should reduce CPU load by the way, it was released a week ago or so.

I don't own Arouser but have tested it. I bought Disto from SKnote a few years ago and it's good, but I find Arouser to have more...gusto. The saturation is more pleasing to my ear and the compression is easier to set. The GUI is nicer also.

Aliasing is an artifact caused by combining the frequency bands below n/2 and above n/2 when generating sound material above nyquist. Every process in audio inevitably leads to artifacts. The question is: Can you make the artifacts work for you?
Aliasing can be used intentionally to break up the harmonic pattern and cause a microtonal or dissonant shift of harmonics.
By saying that aliasing is always and fundamentally a bad thing, if one were to follow this logic further, frequency shifters and ring modulators would also be fundamentally bad. Bitcrush processors would also be bad. And Eqs too, because they mess up the phase response. Etc, etc. Any applied process would be bad because it adds artifacts to the source material. So it's better to just do nothing at all. Well, for some that may certainly be true
