does anyone encounter a very slow startup when using the new update , I mean like 1 minute to first load omnisphere , I have trilian and keyscape and sonic extensions is this normal ?

 

ive got that same problem....as always with omnisphere...and didnt update with that new update..and in a pcie nvme...i guess is omnisphere..always delay at list a minute at the beginning..is spectrasonics i guess...and as well..depend how many banks or presets do you have....but hey...just my humble opinion..

well, you have the same symptom. only possibly the same problem. He updated to 2.8, while you did not. It would be helpful to know if his Omnisphere was doing this before the update; or only started doing it after installing it.

if his did the same thing before update, then it is likely the same issue. If he did not have this lag before installing vkDanilov's 2.8 release, it is possibly a different issue.

What order were the other two Spectra programs installed? you get the idea...

Changes/Updates (my experience with any version):

• Omnishphere will check/verify database next time it is run
• Omnishphere requires re-scan of index once loaded to interface

no issues with slow loading after the latest vkDanilov update, load time max 5 seconds.

 

Loading time for Omnisphere 2.8.1c R2R:

• Standalone 0.7.15 seconds
• Multi Out VSTi 0.3.35 seconds
• Stereo Out VSTi 0.4.45 seconds

 

So when trying to install the danilov version It keeps telling me it can't find the STEAM folder, I am kind of a noob, bow how do I find that folder, also it says danilov update does that mean I need another set of files or is the update covering everything?

 

Which operating system do you use? The folder is called STEAM, if you don't find it you have to reinstall everything. STEAM is very large about 60 GB.


1.) How do I find my STEAM folder (Omnisphere Library)?

ProgramData is normally a hidden file. To "Show Hidden Files" go to Start Menu/Control Pane/Appearance And Personalization/Folder Options/View tab. Select the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" option and hit "Apply"

On Windows XP, the Spectrasonics folder is located here:

C:\Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spectrasonics

Documents And Settings is normally a hidden file. To "Show Hidden Files" go to Start Menu/Control Options/Folder Options//View tab. Select the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" option and hit "Apply"

The data files for Omnisphere are stored in your STEAM folder. When you update your patches or soundsources, you are updating files in your STEAM folder, which was created when you originally installed Omnisphere. Your STEAM folder is located inside your Spectrasonics folder. See the instructions below to find your Spectrasonics folder. Inside your Spectrasonics folder you'll find STEAM, which may be the STEAM folder, or it may be an alias (Mac) or Shortcut (Window) to the STEAM folder.

Thank you very much for your detailed response, the version is windows 10. As I said I am a noob and I thought the Danilov "Omnisphere_Update_2_8_2c.zip" was the entire software package o.O. Haha anyway do you have any recommendations on what else I need to download to get this going?

 

Make sure your STEAM folder is on an SSD.
