Have been diving into it from a raw patch approach. Oscillators seem to choke when a normal volume. Almost like hard clipping with a lost in quality & slight level loss. Are the oscillators algorithmic or sample based?

What exactly did you expect??...... I guess all the hype about Falcon is some kind hope it´ll be much better than Kontakt etc etc.
Best thing is the fact ppl now can test and make a judgement themself.

    My 50 cents

I think it all depends on the person/cat who is gonna use it. I'm not a sound designer,I produce mostly, metal/rock/indie-rock-pop music, so when I need to use a synth I usually find a preset that works, maybe tweak a few knobs (or not) and move to the next thing, synths almost never take the spotlight in my productions. Falcon excels at this, with its vast diversity of soundbanks all in one place, the only thing I need is to know the libraries well enough to get where I want fast.

@BEAT16 even my atari st had great black and white visuals for 16 bit mono samples back in 1995.
I'm looking forward to your first falcon sound pack!!

there are thousands of synths available all claiming to be the holy grail and most amazing creation in the world but they all basicly sound and do the same thing, some sound a little better, have extra effects or use different methods to create the sounds, but there is nothing really new about them. So now once you've tried them just say thank you for having the opportunity to try them out, we all hear things a little differently so just decide for youselves which you prefer and don't complain about dissapoinment. If you think a synth will make you a musical genius you are mistaken, it takes talent .

Oh look, another thread where unsuccessful musicians claim to totally not be impressed by industry standard plugins. Just as our music elite on this forum finds UAD, waves, pro tools and pretty much everything else shit. Meanwhile producers and engineers with endless ressources chose to use especially the software this forum hates. I wonder who is in the right here? Or are these haters here actually just shit at making music and need excuses?

    On topic:
Falcon is amazing. I tested it two days and it gets better and better the more I learn. And that*s the point. You have to learn the plugins to use them right and put effort in them. That's something people don't wanna do today. They want one button Plugins that make everything sound amazing.

I have it but have not tried it yet. I rekon it's like anything. It has it's strengths and it's weaknesses. It's a tool. You have to engage brain and ears to make anything shine. I have to admit, it's good to be able to check this out in this way and make our own minds up. It's better to be armed with this info NOW instead of after spending money to find out. If you think about it this is "mission accomplished" to be able to check it out. If you decide it's not useful you reached that place without being put out much. :like:

What the companies claim is just advertising, they just want you to buy the product. I have installed and played almost all software synthesizers and deleted 90% of them. Of the thousands of synthesizers, as you say, only a 200 are really good.
That there is nothing new is not entirely true, let's look at it a little more differently and not always generalize like this.

There are only 6 synthesis forms, more is not possible:
1.) Subtractive synthesis 2.) Frequency modulation (FM) 3.) Physical Modeling (PM) 4.) Wavetable synthesis 5.) Granular synthesis 6.) 6. Additive synthesis

    Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2
Many synthesizers such as the Omnisphere 2, for example, now have a wave import function. The arpeggiator has been improved, New Humanity and Life controls, New Presets Library, New Strumming Modifiers, Chord Voicings, Pitch Slides, Step Dividers, Capture MIDI Files and there is a hardware synth integration.

Vastly Expanded Synthesis Engine: Four Layers per patch, New State Variable Filters, Over 500 DSP Wavetables, Powerful Granular Synthesis, 8 LFOs, 12 ENVs, 34 Filter Types per part, Doubled Mod Matrix, Full FX Modulation.High Resolution Interface: Omnisphere supports a newly redesigned, high resolution interface with support for HiDPI displays. The modernized GUI is now easier to use and resizable to fit comfortably into your workspace.

    UVI Falcon
Falcon 2.5 is a free update for its flagship synth hybrid instrument. First, it expands the effects section with two new processors. TS Overdrive is a drive-stage emulation of the famous Tube Screamer guitar pedal with custom mods. And VCF-20 is an emulation of the Korg MS-20 rev-2 filter. It includes a single, morphable HP/LP and dual-stage (discrete LP and HP) variations.

Then, you get more modulations including a smooth random generator and a multi-wave LFO. Falcon is very customizable with the script editor. Here UVI has expanded with 11 inspiring new ones. It now includes a cartesian sequencer, euclidean keys, probability arp, rain sequencer, wave sequencer, warp sequencer, MIDI record, MIDI pitch delay, MIDI monitor, note pan, and velocity test. Plus some scripts got UI updates: chord bank, chorder extended, polyphonic sequencer and more.
