OK...I just mentioned it. Now also Rapidgator deleted most of the UVI Falcon Librarys. So now these releases are dead. :suicide:

I hear what you are suggesting and in many cases it makes sense.
Unfortunately, some uploaders like R2R are very specific about "No Mirrors".
Also sometimes both the sister site and the hosting sites occasionally get takedown orders. There is nothing anyone can do about that.
You may need to discuss this with the site owner SaInT or Oly - Probably PM him with better options if you have them.

I think there won't be enough time to download the big EW libs.
Another silly idea from my side to get this thing done:
    • Several password protected packages will be distributed. Nobody knows whats inside since nobody can see or know the content "R2R-Xmas-Package-1" "...2.." ... so the users can feel free to downlaod packages
    • No DMCA takedown since nobody knows what's inside. Enough time to distribute EW libs in a hidden way
    • After a while (lets say 2 weeks) the decryption password is distributed and the people who have downloaded the stuff can unzip the presents and see what they got
I know this is stupid but it might work

oh and there is also a christmas feeling too :D -.-"

  5. Could not agree with @lukehh more! I'll go to 'Z' to see what's been released, then go to other sites to get a link to actually get that release. To have hundreds of people bothered with painfully slow links so that one person can benefit is, IMO, just garbage. Recently there was an R2R release that was under a megabyte. It was locked on 'Z', no mirrors allowed. Really?? I mean, REALLY???

No idea regarding downloads in excess of 5TB should ever be considered what you suggested until it has been tried.
The only places I can see this will be effective are not shared uploading sites with multiple rar's, but magnet/torrent sites.

Ignoring the other comments about malware et al.

None of the password protected archives support hidden indexes, so you'd have to use a separate archive -> encryption process, which would be too complex for about 99% of users to understand given typical forum posts.

What is the DNS name server and how do you change it?

well, that wasn't the point of my post, but you're right about the mirrors and re-up requests. i'm in total agreement with what you're talking about.

In winrar you can tick "protect file names as well" while assigning a pasword. isn't this exactly the needed functionality?

dont forget that there are at least 4 different scenarios why a link stopped working:

    1.
    a recent dmca request
(useless to ask for a reupload and repair the post)

    2.
uploader decided to pull, because it is not ideal / there will be a fix somewhen soon
(useless to ask for a reupload and repair the post)

    3.
uploader doesnt posess a brain and does weird shit without reason
    (very unlikely)

    4.
filehost is closed or file is deleted due to inactivity

IMHO only in a 4. situation it would make sense to reupload

and in these cases it would be cool if someone who tries to download something from 2009, which is gone, would now have an easy option to press a button, which automatically creates a request note in conjunction with that specific post´s content.

when somebody (and often thousands could immediately help with that) fixes the issue and posts a new file, that should then be attached to the post, but the "repaired" post does not need to appear in the daily listing.

been there, posted a similar tread a month ago. if a uploader doesnt care to re-up broken links the post should be regarded as abandoned and mirrors should automatically be allowed. the uploader could always file a takedown request.

another suggestion, i would be willing to keep the peeplink links of my downloads and send them by pm, covering for taken down posts. if more members do that, it will be a relief. there would have to be a history tread so we know what we missed while being at work etc.
of course i couldnt be bothered to collect links for all the fantastic sample crap that spams the sister site at a minutely basis. takedown request for those from my side.

This could be happened due to links are in the state of being DMCAed. UL gives you 7 days to backup the files, after that 7 days, they are deleted from UL servers and hashes are kept. Only way is to repack them to create new file hashes.
Sometimes UL hides this links fully, maybe this didnt work fully, thats why they are shown as online, but cant be downloaded.

for real mirrors you would need to repack the files, otherwise files go down in one run.

or just create several mirrors, but thats just impossible the bigger the uploads get. I mean look the full EW stuff is 2,5TB - lets say 4 mirrors, this makes uploading 10TB :o

it was impossible to download the huge releases for free users.
I have no premium account, but well could get all files from a few sources in high speed.

Also possible: repack each packed file individually which means: ie. parts 3 and 16 aren't working. Repack existing part 3 with a small text file or anything just to create another hash and upload these 2 parts again.
Cons: user have to unzip some parts multiple times
Pros: if a user has downloaded 90% of the files he only has to download the remaining parts which have different hash but which are still compatible with the 90% the user has already downloaded so fully compatible parts

Unzipping a few parts multiple times is faster than downloading 30 gb again

    to be more precise:
    • some-stuff.part03.rar
    • some_small_text_file.txt
create a package with these 2 mentioned files: some-stuff.part03.repack01.rar

Exactly what I Said earlier, when nobody wanted to believe me, except for that I Said it was 10 days. @lukehh first you say thats not true, then I further explained it to you, you did not reply anymore and now you agree when somebody else states it. Like I Said, I've done it many times, so I know. Dont get me wrong, not tryna argue with you but i knew what I was talkin about

    Excuse my ignorance but..
Given that R2R/others have put a lot of Effort/time into crackling the stuff,
isn't it on their interest to have it spread as fast/much as possible before any possible takedowns?

I mean, what's the point in doing it if next day it's gonna be gone?

    And also..
what about other audio warez sites like Magesy/s, or the rest?
(I don't visit them, so I always forget the names but a couple good ones exist..)

Are they handed the stuff directly from the source,
or do they take it from AZ and redistribute?

    @lukehh
    "reupload behaviour' is as such:
Only the Residents can see and use the Request Reupload button and they are always reupped. The comments section is only to comment on the released product.
Initially it is stated that the uploader must vow to keep their links maintained, yet it is PiRAT or Oly who do the reupload.

I feel this thread is a 1st world 'problem' and as such moot.
Also disrespectful to THE exclusive source of so many releases...
I do see that in the future there may have to be better alternatives to UL and RG, just due to how they have been getting; UL in particular.
I don't think people's problems with debridders need to be involved in it though regards file size.
Who are we to complain about anything, anyway?
