There is some kind of timebomb, which happens in extremely rare case, for example you need to reauthorize Omnisphere, and that is all I have experienced for last 5 years with Spectraosnics...
Once you do that with keygen, old project reload normal like they should....

The problem usually is mostly with 3rd party presets. It has been so for many recent versions no matter who issues them. Also sometimes it just goes silent and has to be reloaded altogether. Clearly there is a hidden timebomb of some sort. Maybe some day someone will figure it out. For now I name my Spectrasonics tracks with preset and plugin info to be safe.
