Movie studios that have billions of dollars, lobby governments extensively and basically do everything in their power to ensure that they can continue raping their customers for years to come win a court case...you don't say. That's why I don't even go to the movies anymore so I can stick it to them where it really hurts. The irony is that Hotfile had one of the fastest removal times in the business and it won't matter one bit because that fingerprinting nonsense won't stop shit. Maybe these assholes should remember that even dinosaurs aren't immune to extinction.

Not really but what worries me is that this can set a legal precedent. If you play chess you know that you always have to think a few moves ahead.

Only one move more than your opponent (as one strong player once said).

Yep, end of an era. :(

My first ever successful attempts at downloading were carried out via Hotfile, back when they were king of the hosters.

Slowly, slowly "THEY" are eroding the incredible freedoms that the iNet once brought us. I wish I knew how to make a difference, I mean a REAL difference, other than signing the odd petition, etc, but, it seems "THEY" are in no mood to give up "THEIR" almost limitless powers. Sad thing is Bill Cooper, may the Lord rest his soul, warned of what was coming way back in the 90`s. The totalitarian tip toe is what David Icke calls it, one small step at a time until it is so far gone it becomes too late to do anything about it. Or maybe it is all just "conspiracy theory" dreamt up by the paranoid fringe of our society.

exactly my thought. well hotfile is still used for some dj sets, but nothing related to movies, series or other mainstream crap music.

digital fingerprinting is useless for password protected archives with just numbers as filename.
hope hotfile will win this still - if not we have dark times ahead.

ok let me get this straight, so how do the MPAA and all that big labels not suck every penny of out the artists? hmm? not to mention all this bloat safety mechanism implemented in mp3, pdf, etc aka drm ...
instead of moving on and provide a service like hotfile or all other cyberlockers do?
but yes we have itunes, with not even a single WAV/FLAC file to purchase - instead we face mp4(AAC) with 256kb/s euuuuwwww - yuck, not looking better for movies - you have to seriously stay online to watch a dnam blockbuster with that services. (ok itunes has it different, but not everybody wants a 720p version of a serie? )

anyway we can debate about this over and over - they wont understand what the users wants and why he wants - meanwhile the downloading goes and on ;)

Sure I'll send you the bill for how much it will cost and you can spend all the time it takes to maintain such a thing.
