I have the last two releases of RET and CE both had timebombs. Also the 2.9.0.9436 R2R kept prompting me to register. Does anyone have any idea which version was the last one that works reliably?

 

Same here, I just stopped using Zebra for now. I'm sure Z3 is right around the corner. But I do have a lot of projects that have Zebra in them, suck. I wonder how it calls home, there doesn't seem to be an executable to block, and I've had a full reinstall and still get the bomb. Crazier is that it doesn't happen for DIVA or Bazille.

 

Dont know how Uhe does nowadays but years ago i just change the clock on my PC i either move it forward or backward a few months and then it worked just fine.
Uhe used to trigger the timebombs on days like 4 july or 31 dec and other "special" days and it didn't matter if you where offline all the time it still bombed.

 

I've read somewhere that you must first uninstall V.R (CE) release before installing R2R/RET version or you will be timebombed.

 

Don't use k'd Uhe stuff, they are notorious for hacking timebombs into their code! If you can't afford Zebra for now, get the new version of Zebra CM, which is pretty damn great and will keep you busy for quite a while.

 

The recent method of "hacking" some u-he plugins is based on legit serials and circumvent all timebombs since binaries remains 100% untouched (legit installers unmodified). Plus, there is no call-home routine, so the timebomb some encountered may be triggered by previous installations.

 

Make sure you clear all data from previous installations (%PROGRAMDATA%\u-he\Zebra2.data)
I use u-he plugins very active from 2020 xmas R2R releases, then updated to recent RET and R2R releases, have no seen any timebombs (for now at least)

 

Are you using a serious firewall? Not the windows one? Did you block your DAW from Internet?

Yes, but I'm using an older version. Anyway, serious firewall is mandate when using wares to avoid the programs to check license validity.

U-he doesn't check licences via Internet. He relies on timebombs, that is delayed checks that may "fire up" months and even years later after istallation. This is a know-how of Urs Heckman (u-he), he said it many times himself officially.

Remember guys the fabfilter-gate timebomb mess. This seems similar.

 

Nope, this only happens to people who dont know what they are doing, to those who dont take any precautions. If you take ALL steps required i.E. block in firewall etc, none of this will happen. And really no offense to anyone, but if you use warez while still being connected to the internet, you are stupid beyond measure, sorry, but its the truth. R2R releases are cracked properly, and if you experience a timebomb or whatever, more often than not, the fault is to be found on your end, because you either didnt properly block it in the hostfile or in general you didnt follow all the steps that are mentioned in the textfile. I never experienced any timebomb and im using the same releases as you all are. But im smart enough to not use Warez while still connected to the internet. My main music making PC is purely offline. Never experienced any issues, never ever in my life. Just saying. You all are doing something wrong.

 

Show me one R2R release where this happens? There is none, at least i have never experienced what you are talking about with any of the countless R2R releases i have installed.

 

All R2R versions work reliably. Show me one where this isnt the case and i will shut up and eat my words. There is none. The fault is on YOUR end.

PS: And i bet you havent done a clean install. If you had VR version installed prior, no wonder. And let me guess, you use warez while still connected to the internet. 99 times out of a 100, the fault is on YOUR end.

 

There are Fabfilter R2R versions with timebomb. It's a known fact.

 

You can disagree with my posts all you want, what im saying is still the truth, nor is it a matter of opinion, its immovable facts. How come the R2R release is working for me, but not for you? Because its not properly cracked? No, the fault is on YOUR end.

 

But then it got fixed by R2R ;)

Edit: Its not a known fact, why do some of these bombs only happen to some and not to others who are using the same plugin just as much as the other person? Answer this question. Are you still connected to the internet while making music? Answer it.

 

I think there was one R2R version that timebombed, @Xupito. I know how you discovered recently that you dislike disgusting, filthy, dirty hyperbole, so..! :P
