Fortunately, developers like @giancarlo are very few. I repeat, in all the times he has been questioned he has behaved disrespectfully, and in general he is a double-sided person, like an italian mafia guy, so you have to be careful with him. He publishes his products, but at the same time downloads from the sister site, constantly monitors it, as well as deeply fearing R2R. The time will come for everyone to pay the warez tax... and he knows this well.

 

I had a misfortune of working with their plugs a few years ago. There's something very displeasing with their sound. I noticed it the first time I loaded their big red EQ (don't remember the name) on the channel and it immediately became very flat, dead and harsh sounding. I didn't even know how they're made back then, and the studio owner managed to hype me up for them, because it was a legit high-end soft, not something you see often in my country. And they all were making the sound worse just by being there.
So yeah it's bad.

 

A plugin can not fix a bad source. Red is doing nothing out of ordinary, maybe it was a bug in one of the early versions but that plugin is like 10 years old and abandoned.

You have a personal bias about a plugin trying to make it a general thing with their plugins which is unfortunate.
Its a plugin you tested not a Vietnam war, dragging it like its a PTSD or something.

 

The studio had four of their plugs. They all made the sound worse. And I've worked with the best sources in my mixing career yet while being there.

I agree. It definitely sounds like a stressful time for him and to be fair its a stressful time for a lot of developers. Although I don't make plugins, I've been a developer some 20+ years and the majority of the work I get is seasonal. 4th quarter is usually the worst because companies trying to wrap up projects and meet quotas before the end of the year so its a mad dash for a 3 solid months.

I did read what he wrote and although I cant speak for things he has done in the past, he's being forthright about his stance on piracy. If you're a legit user and are worried about a locked account, just don't install pirated versions of his software. As far as I can tell, he's being as direct and clear as anyone in his position can be. Now, that may not be what some users want to hear or agree with, but those are his terms. If someone is put off by that, its pretty simple. Just don't buy or use his software.

To be clear, I'm not taking this developer's side even if it seems like I'm playing devil's advocate. There's a lot of companies who's approach to business I disagree with. UAD is a good example. I've been using their plugins since 2004 but their support for Windows has been less than stellar compared to Mac. As a Windows user whos supported UAD as long as I have, it sucks when you see the bulk of the support fall on Mac users simply because they're on a different platform, especially after Ive spent several thousand dollars on their hardware and plugins. But as a developer, I understand it, even if I don't agree with some of their decisions or their business model.

 

I have some bad experiences with some of their plugins and sound wise i dont like some as well. But some problems, or bugs does not equal to all and they have a lot of plugins.
I could name a lot of companies that i dont like or had bad experiences but i dont go on forums and put down their company or the ceo`s wife.
Calm down and save your inner fire for positive things.

I thought he was packin' mortadella under the hood of those plugins but it turned out to just be grilled mozzarella that he called thick pepperoni which he took the meat out of when manufacturing the future of sosiges because someone peppered him the wrong way when he slipped and sneezed on his own cloud of pepper.

Great... a dried intestine full of glob peperoni; the impossibrie trans-fat-a-roni that can't run or do shit on it's user fan base computers at all. All the user reviews are made up of penis mozerella that run a single demo computer and nothing else to run up the bill of their plugins when something else does it for fuck all.

I've never been able to demo it and never have known anybody that has but we all saw videos of people that could when we lol @ dem YT's because none of us run a space ship computer that gasses itself all the way to the moon to check if it also cuts it's own cheese like we do.

While the swineshtein comparison is indeed exaggerated, the current discussion is not about Sordo's piracy stance. It's about his general attitude towards his customers and the quality of his plugins.
Oh, and even his piracy stance isn't entirely justified, since he just deadass increased the price on the pirated plugin. Who the f-feck can think it's a good business decision?

 

Yeah haha, I was just trying to be light hearted when everybody was angrily flinging shit at each other when nobody actually knows anybody that can run those damn things to begin with. Even if somebody does nap them, they won't run unless you bypass everything else in your mix or run your final mix through one instance.
