Not really, Many Spitfire users have purchased EW products, and EW users have purchased many Spitfire products. In addition, the BBC Orchestra did not respond well due to its high disk requirements and strange inter-sample delays — and the price far higher than EW Hollywood Diamond.. However, many of EW's products are indeed too old. They are not inherited and inherited.
I think it’s more a case that others have entered the market and done some of the library types better now, maximising later editions of Kontakt for example, and then when it comes to orchestral stuff, EW tends to focus on BIG productions, whereas Spitfire, Berlin and others do product for more specific styles, like chamber strings, drama etc… All have their uses. I use BBCSO Core as my main orch library, I love it, but their Solo String library I am not a huge fan of, and prefer the Cremona Quartet. It’s whatever works.
Liberating EW's libraries/player will be Awesome.. Nowadays there's better/more adequate stuff if you're into full Epic or plain Orthodox.. But boy their Hollywood libs even if old, are a Great and very Cohesive collection. Some ppl has been waiting a decade for it! I personally never quite liked Spitfire.. (or OT Berlin for that matter..) had Symphonic and Chamber strings, and just deleted them both Symphonic has some good Legato violins, but the Cellos/bases are Super Bad, the vibrato sucks, and it's got no Staccato.. Chamber has better cellos/basses, but the violins are kinda weak.. so not for me. For smaller ensemble I found Venice strings is quite competent, but I work with bigger ensemble anyways.. I still would like to try SF Studio strings tho, they could improve over the other two libs, but yeah 200GB is a pretty considerable number.. And I would ofc love trying BBCSO, it certainly has a sound of its own, but it seems like one of the most Realist offerings there is.. From the new stuff that's coming out, MSS would be my favorite, but without the 1.2 lookahead update is still a little bit clumsy.. it needs this update, and it needs better Vibrato and better EQing, somehow it's as if they released the library half baked.. So in the end, you know what.. the more libraries I try, the more I like good old LASS2! If you take your time adjusting it properly, loading all parts, using their Stage/Color, and adding the right type/amount of external Reverb.. boy is just as competent as any other library Good legatos/port/gliss, Awesome Stacc/Spicc, super Detailed and great tone.. it's just right in so many ways! (and in fact has some similarities with EWHO) But yeah the intensity/immediacy and Dryness it has can make it be less realist/appealing than other libs.. It's got some Awesome features, but also serious compromises of its own. For Brass, my modern favorite will also be MSB, but I'm still using the good old and tested Cinebrass and Projectsam Brass.. For Percussion is easy: get Everything you can..
EastWest's protection seems to have gone south with the big reverb release, so, as the sun climbs further north perhaps we'll see our belovef R2R hand over the orchestral libraries to us, the unwashed masses. Whad'ya say, +10K?
Honestly, nothing with their skills surprises me now. If they have access to it, then you will see it I reckon, no matter what it is.
I don't know about you guys, but I have a maximum of 10 Gb possibly free in the HDD (OS), so I hope there is also something other than the EW libraries, because I risk not being able to install anything of the much loved Black R2R
the lunar eclipse is a little scary) ... Today I have such a view in my yard: This happens quite rarely, and I locked myself in a room with a hot cup of tea and in woolen socks, it's cold here. The witch makes a stew and talks about strange things. I listen carefully to my old woman, and I wait
Their skill is frightening, never has no team mastered so many protections, and so prestigious. Even the giant teams of the past have never had such a huge status and skill as R2R's GOATs. Very grateful and lucky to live in the R2R Era.
Hope to see more MacOs stuffs, all the most interested release (Softube, the new SplitEQ,ecc) are everytime only for Windows users
That's Apple's decision. Moving to ARM... Codesigning restriction.. So called 'Catelina Ready' signature..
Guys enough, we're talking about the BF R2R, not a war between Win and Mac that no one needs. It is what it is. Please no off-topic nonsense comments.
this topic was always on fire, even for me for sometime. But the bitter truth is we are very greedy for plugins(specially that "i"lok stuff). but the reality is collecting all of them doesn't make you any better except filling your storage. And these guys are working free for you so no-one can blame. there are plenty enough plugins out there for mac that also good. so get some use of them and earn your way to your dreams, then you don't need to wait for others to crack your way to it.
We are celebrating R2R work. R2R is the protagonist of this "novel". It doesn't matter which product they release, we celebrate the grandeur of a team that defeats such a difficult and prestigious protection. R2R is a Windows Team, as always has been. This incredible worldwide hype towards them is due to their enormous skill and generosity. They don't owe anyone anything, and above all they dedicate their precious time and work only to their passion and dedication. And I believe they deserve all this worldwide admiration.
Yep i'm not questioning r2r's legacy.but always someone pops-out and asks about mac. My opinion was for them. Peace-out.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm checking some libs/demos/videos at ewql page, looking for what to test first : )
