Anyone still using it? There are loads of presets available, and no matter what Rob Papen says, Predator is NOT a suitable replacement for it. That Linplug code is superior to anything Rob Papen and his team have released. Even though the first Albino was released 19 years ago, the sound still holds up and I don't know about you, but I'll be using it for the rest of my life.

 

For me the Albino 3 is one of the best virtual software synthesizers ever made. I use it occasionally. He never gets boring. It is a shame that it has not been further developed. Unfortunately, the company no longer exists.

Predator? ...Blue2? ... the have the same OSC feel

 

Before I found Zebra Albino was my number one. I retired it in the desire to minimalize, but I think now... one more synth cant hurt, can it?

 

Loved Linplug's Alpha. Albino carried the same heritage soundwise, but to me it was the same but just doubled up.

"What if we had 4 oscs instead of 2?! Great idea!".

Opinions and all but to me it lost a lot of the immediacy of Alpha. Still, shame about Linplug.

 

I keep it installed but I have to be "reaching" to use it anymore.

Largo sounds very similar to me. Zebra does the mellow thing well too.

There was a point when Peter from Linplug announced his new synth and said that it would load Albino patches, but then Rob Papen was a little bitch and stopped that, however Peter's new synth turned out to be Spectral, so I imagine that Spectral would do the Albino sound.

I have seen things come and go (synths with claims of convolution matrix engines, etc) over the past 19 years, and NOTHINNNG, including the imitators, sounds quite the SAME as Albino itself. I have had to constantly throw out sounds from OTHER synths that I had concluded were ALMOST good enough in my project, but sooner or later I would find JUST the right settings in my Albino to make me GET RID of ALL the tracks that played ALTERNATIVE synths in my project. Albino is truly ONE of a KIND synthesizer and No, Predator and Blue II and Blue III are Not comparable replacements for Albino, hell No !!

might be alternatives, but they are NOT viable replacements for the sounds and synthesis capabilities I have found available {EXCLUSIVELY} inside of Albino.

Does the last v3.2.1 come in WIN x64 or does it need to be bridged?
