Sub models are good for companies only, not for customers. You never own the stuff, even after you pay them for 5 years. If something happens and you can't pay, you can't even use it. Imagine you can't use your tools for woodworks, but in order to create any profit you need those tools. It's a parasitic business model that meant to hook you up.

For now PreSonus have a grate model - you can use an adequate sub system, that includes all their products(but at this point sphere is useless) or just but them as individual products. And if they change that for sub only system, they'll break their promise of never doing so.

they might have sold stuff they bought before, but you are exaggerating lots, fender is a pretty stable and serious company.

Oh no, they said they would be my Louisiana besties fo eveah and eveah, now they are cashing out!!!

I really don't know if this is a good thing or bad thing.

I am invested in any PS products. Bought an IO Station as a portable AI with some DAW control thing and it worked for a week then drivers or w/e sent it back. Bought a AudioBox before that ended it giving it to my 77 year old dad to record himself on Mandolin.

S1 seems cool but it's just not different enough to justify relearning anything and I didn't really like how time stretch and quantize worked.

Who knows why they sold to Fender but it's done now, maybe it will be good and maybe it won't.

Fender isn't Gibson who really do turn everything they touch into crap.

But I wouldn't hold my breath either way.

What makes me a little bit calmer is the fact that Gibson tried to save themselves by buying DAW, while Fender and PreSonus were in a great position before joining forces. It's just weird to me that it's Fender, and not someone else.

Lots of questions and PreSonus left us with zero answers :/

How do you know ? In order to be able to assess this correctly, one would have to see your balance sheets such as sales - profits and costs. However, these data are trade secrets.

I guess : The competition has increased and the market is relatively saturated. Plus, there is less money in consumers' pockets, keyword increased energy costs and inflation. Companies need to cut their costs. If you get together you can use resources together, for example: server rental, accounting, advertising, etc.

Fender had one of the best if not the best year in their existence(20-21), PreSonus were doing great as well.
As I understood it PreSonus were looking for opportunity to scale up and couldn't do it without big ass company. Fender, on the other hand, were looking for getting into software world for quite some time(at least this is what all the music and sound MSM say).

Also, if we search something like "Fender PreSonus", we would see some PreSonus projects tied to Fender stuff, and it happened a long time ago(5-7 yrs ago). So, maybe it's not just a rush to sell a company while it's hot, but a well planed and prepared action. But it's just my little speculations in this case.

Anyway, I've seen people say stuff like "I don't think anything will change for at least a year" and I think I agree. This means we will see at least 5.5 version whiteout any interference from Fender lol Maybe we shoud give it a chance. But it would be nice if they bother to give us some information.

I agree that having the option is the best way, and I get the whole for / against thing.

Hello @Karate Grownup, like you, I am excited to see what products we, as musicians, will get in the future. I think you will pool what you know and do the best you can. In the worst case scenario, they will not invent anything new and will fight to survive. So there is pressure to innovate and so is knowledge.

I heard that new customers keep coming into the world, that is, the customers of tomorrow, have not even been born. These new customers will only buy a product they believe will be. That means Presonus has to deliver good quality and stand out from the competition. Customers who can not spend much money go to Image Line or choose another inexpensive provider.

    The merciless market laws are:
When a company no longer generates enough sales, it disappears from the market. In order to assert itself against the competition, a company has to be innovative and create products that the buyer asks for. We would like to know how many employees are being laid off or hired.

Fender 2010 (old numbers, but they shed light on the problem of returns)
But the 2010 financial year ended in minor with a loss and last year only 3.2 million dollars in profit remained from a turnover of 700 million dollars. Pretty meager given nearly $ 250 million in debt.

what do you expect, the corporates always cleaning out small businesses to prevent any competition and to control evey aspect of our lives, with no freedom or privacy, look how many small and medium businesses were destroyed by covid shutdows & restrictions and yet amazon and the other online companies thrived and became 10 times richer. They don't even want us to own anything they want you to lease your software, electronics, home furnishings, electronic appliances and vehicles, welcome to the future they will own everything and we will own nothing, and struggling to survive, while they own everything and live in opulence.

No exaggeration at all. Research the brands/companies that Fender has acquired/taken over & what happened to them.
    Some Historical fact: Fender (brand)

Post CBS. Fender, has become a more corporate focused entity. My personal experience with Fender Began with a 1974 Stratocaster without a whammy bar (on purpose). As my musical journey progressed I was fortunate to own & use many well made tube amps for guitar & bass. These were also the early days of solid-state amps that offered reasonable performance without the expense & maintenance required for tube amps (great for gigging/jamming). Tube amps still offered superior performance for recording back then

After getting off the roller coaster and settling down (mid 80's), I started working in Pro MI retail where I got to experience the relationship with company reps first hand. I alter used my electronics background as service manager for a small chain of Pro Mi shops where I got to see first hand where corners were being cut to produce instruments & electronics by Fender & others.

The era of cheap (not inexpensive), cheap un-binned & sub-par components were being used to manufacture so-called "Pro" products.
Even Marshall had issues with their JCM amps dues to poorly chosen/designed mains & output transformers.

Then came the "Foto Flame" guitars from Fender along with basses that ahd necks that would warp & twist. The solution for the basses was to bore a cavity in the headstock, align the neck and place a Fender provided maple puck. a temporary solution to a problem that would return. The wood used for the neck was just inferior.

I could go on but, you should have a clearer idea of my thoughts on Fender. From Leo Fender through the CBS owned Fender era, it was a very good company for the most part.

On a side not...I had the privilege of speaking to Leo, a week prior to his passing. He was working on a final prototype of his first Telecaster. He was very excited and was hoping for a launch within 3 to 6 months if all went well. what a great human being & legend.

granted, i dont know too much about basses and guitars, and i dont exepct any company to be dedicated to humanity or progress.

but you can be sure they have a huge interest in the hardware solutions of presonus and dont really care about the german guys making some software, as long as the software still makes profit for them.

and that a company or product vanishes is not neccessarily the fault of the new owner. the takeover could as well have been their last chance. ;)

Does Fender have hidden chinese investors?
that would really mean the end of Presonus as we know it...

It's a little.. weird. Genuinely, head-scratchingly weird! Are Fender making audio interfaces now? Seems a bit like they had some choices with their new mega-wealth. Maybe develop Elon Musk space shuttles, albeit more tastefully >____> shaped like guitars. Or do a Yamaha, and buy up a random DAW maker for tax reasons. (Or develop silly, electric Akira motorbikes also shaped like guitars?)

I think this comes down to too many drinks consumed and too many dares made at a trade show? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Solution: permanent lockdown for all industry idiots. Especially Eric Persing and Steven Slate. Don't let their faces escape this time!

    Here's the company
    https://www.servco.com/about-us/history/

While owners are indeed ethnically Japanese, it seems the company itself is registered as a US one.
But the main point here is that it's definitely not another Chinese burner.
