I want to find a quick way to chop samples so I can export them as individual hits to use in other soft ware. Most slicers I have tried that have transient detection just trigger the slice points without being able to quickly export those samples.

The only problem [or "problem", subjective] with recycle is that it's a separate app, whilst SliceX is a plugin. I've been using Recycle for 2 decades though, no problem for me.

OK will look at recycle although i think i figured out a better way i can do through Ableton live just using the slice to midi function. Just need to find a fast way to rename the files.

That looks really good. It has Zynaptiq's Time Stretching algorithm (ZTX) - super psyched. thanks for the tip

its too bad that renaming is still badly handled in most OSs
there are (free) programs that do the job. but just get a better explorer
for win i suggest Directory Opus, an amazing peace of kit the absolute king.
Fully customizable and i mean fully!

Besides Recycle and NewSonicArts kit, a very fast way of doing things is also, a tool
    by Serato namely Sample
Depending on what you want to do, this might be even better than exporting slices.
    But it
wont export. still very interesting and blazing fast

So what are you exactly trying to do? I know you want sliced waves, but for what end use?

if you are going to go the Recycle route, you should check out Zero-X Beat Creator and Beat Quantizer. it has been ages since I looked at it, but I always used it instead of Recycle for SCSI transferring slices to sampler when I was on pc. They are all 16 bit.

if this is for a scsi sampler, remember that you want recycle 2.0 and not 2.1.

I'm still using Zero-X BeatCreator 1.7a that I've had since the 90s and it's still fine on Windows 10 (and was on 7, XP and 2000). I think it's fantastic.

You can automatically put markers by events or evenly in 8th, 16ths etc. You delete markers with the delete key and add them with "+". You can move the markers by dragging them from side to side. You can move slices with drag and drop, including between multiple open windows so you can use the groove of on beat with the sounds of another. "A" lets you randomly rearrange all slices.

You can export the slices as wave files or as a soundfont (or .map which I've never personally used.) Just can save just the groove as midi or its own .zgr format. You can export the slices and groove as follows:

Maybe later versions would do REX2. Not sure. I see version 3.32 is on the first page of google.

I always found BeatCreator's workflow much much nicer than Recycle's.

I'm also interested about that. Is there a way to do it with Simpler or Sampler in Ableton Live ?

Just chop the audio in your DAW and export the chopped regions as new files. Pretty sure most DAWs can do this function.

that is great for old sample cds, really the best. but not especially useful for breaks chopping.

Logic Drum Machine Designer (DMD) is great for chopping, but he wants more of a batch type of utility.

Reaper's mkslice script does the job perfectly fine, if not as graphically nicely as the others.
