    Hello,

I manged to add mostly all of my sample libs to the kontakt lib. But one thing that sucks it's the ordering of those libs. Oh I used the "old" Version without creating a XML file. So at least I have some buyed libs which have (mostly/all) XML file, the rest I tried to manage via ID: 0xxx and via Name: a-z. But Kontakt "ignore" my ordering - ok some work. How do I get them completly ordered?

    Thanks in advance!

    Greets,
    Jack

I think you want to alphabetize them? If that is the case, when you are looking at the library title picture, click, hold, and drag them to where you want them. I don't think Kontakt automatically sorts it for you that way. Be sure to order them how you want and then exit the daw to save. Quickload is much better in my opinion. It is all text based and you can create your own folder tree. Plus, it stays alphabetical. You dont get the "cool" art, but it's a lot faster to navigate through your samples. Unlock to edit. Lock when done. Exit to save.

Bringing the libraries manually into the right order, is laborious.

If you are on Windows, look for free Kontakt Library Manager 3 (KLM 3) by DoubleY:

"This tool will help you Manage your own custom libraries on Kontakt Player 3.5 or higher."

It has a Library Order Function. *yes*

My question would be, once the libraries are added how we can save the library list?, so that we don't need to spend Days again only for adding and ordering the libraries after a new installation.
By the way i'm on mac.

    cheers

    Thanks for your help.

Same solution for Windows I would prefer, as if you sort them manually via Kontakt and make a small change your list is gone..

So does someone know in which file the ordering is saved?

    *push*

Someone know how to get this done on windows?

Right now for me it looks like it is mixture about the XML files and the registry entries. Still hope there is one single explicit file where those settings are saved.

I always back up these three Locations and restore in this same order
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Content (registry)
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5 (registry)
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center
    (I believe they work together)
As long as you don't move your harddrives around Kontakt will work/and keep the library list exactly the same way every new installation. Cheers

    Thanks.

Good to know.. that a backup is /works that easy.

Ok it can't be only a mixture.. I changed some IDs but Kontakt keeps that manually created order :excl:

    Some notice:

don't use ID under 0010 - otherwise it doesn't get load on Kontakt 5 (with 4 it works)
I use 0010 and 0999 (think there was an issue with ID over 1000 too but not sure..)
renaming a commerical lib might not work! - havn't double checked that..

Oh and yes the registry entries and XML file you find:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Content (registry)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5 (registry) <- added this one to the previous post - might be uninteresting for backup but helps if you want order your libs
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5 (registry)
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center

i know i'm a little late to the party, but in case someone else out there wants an answer to this, i've figured it out.

under windows, the ordering of the libraries as they appear in kontakt is controlled by a registry variable called UserListIndex, which appears under each library's twig in the native instruments software branch. a value of '0' means 'whatever', while a positive value indicates the ordering.

if you wanted to alphabetise your libraries, you'd change this value under each of the library twigs in
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Native Instruments]. attention - these dword values are in hex.

i figured out a relatively painless and error-proof way of automating this process, but you'd need access to a unix-like system, such as cygwin. lmk if you'd like the pipeline.
