Talk about some bloat: Since it needs Omnisphere, it means that you need to waste around 50 GB of disk space just to be able to use any of these expansions, even if you don't plan to use Omnisphere.

Clever marketing stuff.

Probably good quality stuff (Omnisphere is a good product) but clearly overpriced !
Almost 149$ for an advanced banks of presets et 2 or 3 basic FXs... Am I the lonely one thinking that's crazy ?
Will we have to buy these to get the "Kontakt" possibilities ?

oh. so it is just a money grab? well, paid users get a free update, the scene gets maybe free stuff. could be worse. still no Hydrasynth hardware profile in OS update. ;/

 

So it's 4 sound banks at 150$ a piece. Umm.... okay.... UVI Falcon has extensions at 39$ a piece, also includes custom interfaces, ánd you can develop your own custom interfaces.

Sound banks like these are fine but it seems a bit silly to hype it with over 2 hours of video. A 1-minute promotional would have sufficed (with a matching price).

Hmm. Underwhelming? Perhaps. But that nylon is one of the most expressive Ive yet heard. I guess the fatboy will get another couple of bucks from this sucker.

 

Extensions require Omnisphere 2.8.

 

If I didn't already have it, I'd buy it from you ASAP! However, I'm perplexed as to why you'd decide to sell it when what Spectrasonics just released doesn't stop you from continuing using Omnisphere as it is? I mean, let's be honest, with so many banks already available for Omnisphere numbering in the thousands, it can go without an update itself for years and it would still be useful for all sorts of productions.

 

Considering they created a new website for extensions, ig it's their new thing - creating and selling extensions.
It's probably unfair to compare them to Falcon libraries as most of them are pathetic tbh, especially when you listen to this new acoustic guitar of Spectrasonics'(it's gorgeous), but their approach is very weird.

Also, it would be amazing if they turn Omnisphere into something like Falcon but better. They're producing great expansion packs, which can be used/to be useful for a very, very long time. If only they paired it with modern Falcon-like framework instead of adding new effects to this old engine...

This thread is a testimony to the way the world works with anything new. Aspersions cast whether a film. music, audio product, mix, car, whitegoods or anything that makes the mistake of saying "New product". Both before anyone has tried it and after release..... If anyone said 'why bother releasing anything??" - They could almost validate that.
The safest way these days is for anyone to say "Here's our recent release, we're happy with it, buy it if you like it" and close all comments so no fucker can post.

The Nylon actually sounds great. That said, so do a lot of other libraries. The points made on this thread that so much already exists is unfortunately totally correct. We live in an age of product overload.
Nobody has the time to play through every single sample and instrument available or they'd never create anything.
Scepticism has become a way of life for more people now than ever and nobody can blame them. If every person who said "Our great new unique product" lived up to that historically, the cynicism would not exist.

For Omnispehere users, this add-on is a great addition. As for hype - Hype is hype - extravagant promotion.
