That is simply not true. Just ask Tone2 or Urs about it directly. Tone2 will probably not answer because they are kind of assholes, but U-he will.

Jesus.. the conspiration theories on Internetz.. Urs did not make the Tone2 antipiracy stuff! The U-he team has something called integrity.
U-he plugins have NEVER done anything like Tone2 regressive antipiracy stuff. If he started doing that he will loose alot of customers.

Urs discussed protection with Tone2 does not mean that they use the same methods. U-he themselfs NEVER used those kind of "protections". U-he only makes GUI goes screwed and things like that. No deleting of files or checking if other products are being warezed.
It's very easy to check my friend. R2R is the best reliable source when it comes to this. Just ask them if U-he products have any such "protection"! :)

Also, I remember that discussion when Urs said "us". You are missinterpeting what he actually says. But he just meant that "we, the developers, that have our own ways of doing things to crackers that annoy them". They annoy crackers in total different ways. Urs has my full respect. Extremely helpful and care about his customers. Since after I was a student and got a steady income, I buy everything I use. Guess which developers got my money? It isn't Tone2!
But I still use R2R releases to demo things for longer periods of time for fully working evaluation (since I only work with music as a hobby, and do it a couple of hours a month, normal demos is not working for me).

Also Urs discussed AP with a lot other developers - are you accusing them of doing things like Tone2 aswell?
For instance he publicy said he was discussing it with Lennard on Sylenth1 v3.

I am 100% sure that U-he products does not do anything like deleting files. I have used U-he synths and plugins since his first U-he VST release - both original buys and warez - together on the same machine. Never had any issues except when I was using a badly cracked U-he products (screwed up the GUI so it could'nt be used). THIS is stressful for people using warez for their real productions. And it should be!! it is totally fine thing to do when you are using warez.

Conspiracy? It's just the words of a dev put under a spotlight, the only conspiracy is the self-confessed one between Tone2 and uHe.

I think the fact that Urs "hole" Heckktard has disgracefully wiped the thread after I linked to it (in utter shame) is telling. It speaks volumes about his business practices, and how caught he was by his own spectacular self-pwning. Nice to be proven right. Fortunately the internet remembers. So should anyone thinking of buying (!) a Tone2he synth. And rewarding Tone2deaf2furious behaviour from devs. I'd say the only safe way to get these synths is to pirate them if you like them. Well, now that R2R & RET have got the measure of someone who makes Steven Slate look like Elon Musk.

Also, I never realised (either) that Synapse Audio are German. I feel disgusted with myself! (j/k =)

I kinda enjoyed people saying that the "golden age of piracy is over" tho!

Sorry to resurrect a dead topic. But there was some doubt expressed. And an answer provided. As far as my own experiences (legit uHe plugins randomly getting api'd / blacklisted / w/e) I think that what R2R says here:

    https://upawg.ca/scnview.php?release=37148

Explains things? I guess it meant they had no qualms in banning a license (uservalue) I must've shared with someone who got blacklisted.

I have no evidence for this but (given Urs' paranoid, entitled garbage) I suspect the "suspect" list of license holders (with atypical user names / email?) get lumped together with the same uservalue (see ^^^ nfo). Or maybe it was just purely random; and I just shared a uservalue w/ someone who got blacklisted? Or just general incompetence, left off the hardcoded list?

Anyway, any company that acts like this, won't fix "mistakes" can just fuck off. At least Steinbug learned that it's cutting off your face to spite your nose is bad practice in the long term.
The fact that diva breaks most cpus because of silly api is quite telling, too.
