Any feedback about real benefit of windows 11 migration for audio ? Too early ? Drivers ? Compatibility ?

Home version requesting online account : is it still possible to login offline after installation ?

Home version upgrade on a win10 home with local account still requesting online account for installation ?

Is win 11 blocking unsigned exe ? (patched exe, keygens, dongle emu)

Thanks for any input on these ...

I havent seen any improvement in audio, my drivers are working well, and idk about the exes because i use kaspersky as my antivirus, that thing never blocks cracked software so i installed all my main plugins from the sister site and everything is working well

Better to stick with a functioning operating system like Window 10. Windows 1 1 is not finished yet and, as always, Microsoft is throwing unfinished products on the market. Better wait 1 - 2 years until Windows 11 is stable and corrects for errors.

Is Windows 11 better with hundling audio than Windows 10? NO is Windows 11 better hundling multitasking YES, i have been trying Windows 11 for a quite some time, installed it more than 3 times, mostly it performs better but i think the down side is drivers, while W10 drivers work with W11 i don't think they are optimized for it, and i think most of the issue comes from that end, so before updating first of all update your bios, check if your motherboard manufacturer has updated drivers specifically for W11, and give devs sometime to analyze and update their softwares accordingly...

and to answer your question, no i was able to install all my plugins i used to use with Windows 10 with 0 problems so far, my sole issue is the right click menu when unraring files... basically a pita, all Major plugins devs and daws devs works as expected, even running keygens is less of a hassle than Windows 10

so is it worth it updating to Windows 11? mostly Yes.

Celemony/Melodyne announced official support with full functionality, so I assume Microsoft didn't make any meaningful improvements/changes so far compared to Windows 10,
by quick look, it's still Windows Vista kernel with added bloat

If you are looking for lowest latency then windows 7 is the best. Fr33thy on yt did a fair comparison of Win10 vs Win11 about a week ago. And 11 performed worse than win 10. MS is still adding ton of shit on every windows update. I dont need more telemetry and one note apps!

I'm using a Yamaha ag06 which is basically a Steingerg interface, and was working fine.

Steinberg is a joke, they have had more than a year to support W11 and even more than that to support Apple M1. They just don't give a fuck about people that live in 2021. And yes, that is an issue, because if you buy a new mac or a new Windows laptop in the coming months, chances are high you will have to suffer through W11 or Apple Silicon.

Yamaha bought Steinberg and it's been going downhill since then. Now others have said that, they analyze the internet, what promises the most money is done, what costs we minimized. The user has to look it up. Customer service is minimized and profits are capitalized. Money spoils character.

i guess this is the same question that was asked about upgrading from win 7 to win 10, most people didnt want to including me, but as i built a new pc win 7 was not supported with the mb and processor and so i installed win 10, upgrade from 10 to 11 is that same question, ill wait a bit and see what happens, if your pc is never online then stick with 10,

DirectStorage = Maybe faster loading and better handling of large libraries like Kontakt/Spectrasonics if they support it.

Improved Multi-Monitor Support, improved Multiple Desktops on a Single Monitor, better task management (priority of top app), EcoQoS....

Was wondering when someone on here would mention Fr33thy. He's an absolutely fantastic source of information on Windows tweaks and even dabbled in music production at some point so he is not inexperienced when it comes to audio-specific applications.

Conclusion: NO reason to migrate for now + performance is worse across the board in Windows 11.

Every operating system has bugs. MAC Catalina had issues initially with some apps and hardware.... Every version of Windows initially had issues with some 3rd party drivers or apps... they all iron out eventually.

Because any company says they do not support something does not mean it won't work. All anyone has to do is see how many people in other Win 11 threads on this site managed to successfully install Windows 11 on machines without TPM 2 and without Win 11's recommended security. Their official statement is now it will install but they won't support it and don't contact support for help if you do.
(Basically, they get their own back by saying if you do not use TPM 2 you won't get any security updates).

The support statement is made by many company's to avoid liability. That has never meant something won't work, it just means use at your own risk.
How many people on this site use cracked software and applications? Well, they're not supported.

I'd say: if you are already planning to do a fresh installation of an audio partition, you can give Win11 a chance, i'm pretty sure most stuff will work the same way as it does on win10. If it's just curiousity driving you nuts, better stay with your already configured system, as i'm also pretty sure the benefit you get audio-related is as small as Donald Trump's dick.

This basically sucks, as TPM 2 isn't something you can just add to your 5 + year old processor, which means in order to use a fully featured win11 you need to buy new hardware. I don't get the point where security updates for the OS need new hardware.

Yes it's pretty shitty. It certainly seems that their goal is to aim every part of their security around TPM 2.

You almost realized what these updates are about? They are chargeable and should suggest that you have to update. The computer industry will continue to generate billions of dollars. As with DDR 3 on DDR 4 and certainly the DDR5 comes standard, a bit more speed and the right marketing. It's like with the healthy - the pharmaceutical industry only makes money when someone is sick. Hence they are not at all interested in our health.
