Just updated to Kontakt 6.6.1 (k'd) to use with some later libraries, and found that some of my older Kontakt Libraries now don't show?

Has latest Kontakt dropped support for older libraries?

I have Kontakt 5.6.0 to add libraries (as this was dropped in 6+ onwards) and 6.3.2

All was fine, but had to update to 6.6.1 to use some latest NI Libraries. Update all fine and working.
However some East West and older libraries now no longer show in the tabs, but when loading K5 they are there?

Is this common? do I now need to use both versions of K5 and K6 to access everything, or is there a simple workaround?

    Hi.
Saw your other message. Better here.
What OS are you on? I imagine it's a macOS?
Well, when I have tried to have two versions of Kontakt, the daw will see both but only load the most recent one regardless of which I click on!
Different when having just the standalone 5.6.0 for adding on a mac, and not installing the plugin version.
So Kontakt 6 will always be in my daw.
You can rename Kontakt and have different versions installed.
It's just whether or not your daw likes it.
I reckon there is something fishy with this new release.
And nobody is comimg forward with any solid answers yet.
Bob Dule says it's because latest Kontakt (as 6 is now simpy called) uses RAS3, and those libs are RAS2 or something.
I don't actually get it and he didn't want to explain it when I asked him.
I wish I knew the answer, but I held back in updating so I can't say anything really!

Anyway, this bumps the thread. So wait.
We want Talula, bobdule, or possibly Rollerball to chime in.
But sometimes I'm not sure of the etiquette of tagging someone in...

    Thank you @Smoove Grooves

I am on 10.13.6 High Sierra and its solid so don't want to upgrade really.

I have 2 versions of Kontakt and I use (legit/paid for) Ableton Live 10.
Both versions show (as they must be named different) Kontakt 5, and just 'Kontakt( = Kontakt 6.6.1)

Loaded both in a session side by side and they seemed ok, so hoping that maybe the answer to use both, and pray it saves, loads ok in future using 2 different versions.

Not sure on the RAS3/RAS2 issue, but if it is, is there a way to change this in the settings that would just make these 'seen' in K6.6.1 I wonder?

Anyway will wait to see the replies :)

Yes. Everything had numbers up until 6.
    Now just called Kontakt.
    Oh wow! Cool.
Yes, you are thinking in the right direction.
Bob has said something like this I think!
    Hang on...
    Yep. Here 'tis!

Thanks, but opened the ninct and changed as instructed :

    <AuthSystem>RAS3</AuthSystem> & Product version="6"

Still opens in K5 but not in K6?
Using older East West Colossus Library as a test for this using the .ninct in its Library Folder

    Well, I'm stumped.
Just double check you saved it properly with no mistakes. I'm sure you were astute enough but it's easy to make a mistake.

    Thank you @Talula
EW is in the list that can be added via NA, so I don't think I understand:

kontakt 5 (v5.6.6 and some earlier versions) support both licensing "system" - native access and service center.
kontakt v5.6.8 and later support only native access licensing "system".

    Well, I knew that.
But I still don't understand why I have never had any of these problems.
All my libs that were loaded via 5.6.0 for a higher Kontakt have always worked, going forward.
    But I stayed on 6.3.2...
"FAQ in the end of the page:
Why am I affected by this announcement if my Kontakt library is activating in Native Access?
For the same reason we have to discontinue Service Center, we have to retire our older activation mechanisms. Unfortunately, this affects the listed legacy products. In addition, recent operating system updates have introduced more difficulties which we are no longer able to address."

Seen. But seems to just refer to VST like B4, et cetera...

I really can't get my head around it! <doh!>
So...how can people use the EW stuff in new Kontakt?
Or is it totally impossible now?

yeah, it's difficult to understand my english, sorry... :dunno:

    ok...

yes, can be added via NA. and only added! =)

    but!
kontakt v6.X (and maybe kontakt v5.6.8 and newer) don't support old service center licensing / activation mechanism and can't "see" that discounted products.

    but...
kontakt v5.6.6 (and some earlier versions) support old service center licensing / activation mechanism (and support new native access licensing / activation mechanism) and can "see" (and show in libraries tab) that discounted products.

    that was good? =)))

    Got it! Good, yes!
Ah. So I use 5.6.0 to add libs. Seemed better than 5.6.6 or 5.6.8.
And this is why I have had no problems.

v5.6.6 was the last version for macOS with "add library" button.
v5.6.6 is the one version for macOS that adding RAS3 libraries properly (because using installed native access app); all previous versions adding RAS3 with errors, the main error - changing SNPID from nicnt file to "000".

Correct. And so amend the .xml
    But it is intermittent!
Sometimes it does it all perfectly!
But I will now try 5.6.6 again!
It just used to crash after adding for me! lol
    Thank you.

    edit: Oh wait.
Maybe this is why I stayed using 5.6.0?
Does NA have to be online, or what?

    Ooooh!
    Brilliant.
I remember I tinkered with NA and got scared! Many moons ago, though.
Will use it. Still have it.
    And 5.6.8 for some reason...
I think I thought that was the last Add Lib button!

    Nice one, man.

Haven't tested yet the newer vaccined Kontakt 6.6+, but AFAIK there's two versions.
Bobdule's does some "tricks" that allows older libraries.
R2R's tries to touch as few as possible so you need their Kontakt tool to be able to use many libs.
Maybe the question is if this tool works for old, officially discontinued, libraries, as the likes of EWQL Kontakt.

Corrections are welcome, like I said still haven't tested it.
