    Hello all,

I have an old snow leopard hackintosh running a core 2 quad and DDR2 due to some problem it stopped working, now I'm planning to buy an 2015 imac or a 5,1 mac pro, remove the bootloader, kexts (gotta figure that out) and stick it in the mac or clone it to an 1tb SSD, I have 1tb hdd as the boot drive and 2tb with just sample libraries I don't have the serial keys for all this because i paid a guy a lot of money to install this for me,

Is there a way I can use my vsts and kontakt libraries on the new computer? Please help, I cannot pay him again because covid ruined me and i need to get this running so I can make some demos and get some work

Any help is appreciated thank you

    For what exactly?
If you mean for the installed VSTs, some of them should still work if you make a bootable clone.
Obviously Kontakt libs are just shared and work in a cracked Kontakt.
I can help you in regards all this:
I have made the jump for people many times with going from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to El Capitan, and beyond to HS.
There is ony one way to do it.
On a 2015 you can go higher than High Sierra.
    So wrong.
And I'll help you for free.

don't worry about the software part yet. get the new machine up and running first. get the newest/best deal you can on the new machine.
Shoot for something that can run High Sierra or newer. Whatever machine you end up with, will dictate what you can and cannot run. Remember that if you do get a 5.1 Pro, you need a "Metal" supported GPU if you want to upgrade to Mojave. Otherwise you can only run Logic 10.4, not 10.5. (This is a bigger detail than it sounds like). Check this before buying the machine, Metal compatible GPUs for Mac Pro can be crazy expensive; because people selling them secondhand know exactly why you would need one. There is a list of Metal verified cards on Apples website.
Any of them, and the seller will ask for like 200$ for what should cost about 20$ spec wise.

Once you have the new machine put together and configured, getting your old software to work or replacing it is Step 2. Finding software to run on older machines is still rather easy via Torrents.

Not really, but a useful point too.
Please consider the person was on SL before, and happy!
They probably weren't even running Logic Pro X!
    From bootable clone, so yeah.
    Good idea! lol
I have all that is needed.
I have offered to help above.

    Great advice.
I literally have newer machines sitting in my parts scrap pile. Time to Move on, Even if you get a machine post-2012 you can run Hi Seira or even Catalina or Big Sur Patcher and move up to better 64-bit software. Kontakt has come a long way so has logic so is it worth the hassle?

    How?
Since 4, all that's happened are a few extra fx every so often really.
That's why Guy at RRA still releases Kontakt instruments created by 4.
    And they're great!

The Logic 10.5 upgrade was major. changes to Ultrabeat/Drum Machine Designer/Sampler+Q Sampler, addition of Step Sequencer,Live Loops, Drag and Drop cells, Remix FX, and other details.

I very rarely use Kontakt. I suggested torrents because I have all the older Mac scene releases already stored on seedbox, much easier than uploading anything one by one. You probably could create a rar archive of just the applications and plugins, and it probably would be of reasonable size. Releases back then were considerably smaller file sizes.

Not big, after having used Logic for over 20 years. Sorry.
Things to attract the newbs, imo.
Logic has been one of the two main daws all this time without those things! (Or rather new versions of things! lol)
EXS24 still competes against Kontakt brilliantly. (Actually, it was originally Kontakt that was competing, obvs!)
    Kontakt?
I thought you mentioned torrents for the macOS versions?
Which, having come not from one's account, have to be used with a crack already.
I also have all the old Kontakt's for mac in archive.
But they won't be needed at all in this situation of the OP.

I was (still am I guess) a certified Apple Logic & Protools trainer and have dumped both of them for Studio One. I dumped EXS long ago for Kontakt, mainly because Kontakt is a better and more versatile librarian, especially if you script. I resample in my workflow so it's really quick and powerful because people write instruments for it. I have it for Mac inside Studio one with 15 of my favorite Kontakt sound design tools and 550 libraries on my Pc Nuc-based Audio gridder server. I had huge Akai and Sample Cell libraries that I've converted. Sample one in Studio One is a fantastic sampler and I use that from a 4tb external with all my collected & cataloged sample libraries. So yeah if you dive into Kontakt, it most certainly has come a long way from 4 to 6.6. There's nothing to stop him from using his old Kontakt libraries in 6 with a bit of wrangling.

I installed Logic on my M1 12 months ago and it was a vast improvement over 9 and X. (I was using Notator on Atari and Emagic Logic then Audio on Mac). Drummer alone is worth it. Space designer is still awesome as are the EQ's. I tell students you could do a record of any genre with most DAW's without anything else but stock plugins. This is exceptionally true for Studio One, Logic, Reaper and now Bitwig

I still maintain this person should move onward and upward. In answer to their question, is there a way? Yeah, there is always a way, but is it worth it? What are you trying to achieve? Where are the efficiencies and benefits? Is there a better and more beneficial way to get to the destination?

Up until the version you trained on!
    I was once, too.
:woot: Meshugah? And you were a trainer too? wow.
    I have more!
    Same. All converted now.
    13 TB here.
    I did, 15+ years ago!
No, it hasn't. Just a few new fx. Have a read of the version changes.
And none of what you have written above is relevant or backs up the claim that Kontakt has come a long way.
    And it hasn't.
Otherwise, the fact I have more libs than you and know more about Kontakt should mean something too! lol But I didn't need to say all that to try and back up my claim as you did.
    It was all irrelevant.
    Right.
No "wrangling" at all with shared libraries...

No, Smoove Grooves. From the OP's original post I would think he "payed someone money" for a lot more than just Kontakt!
I meant all the (older) archived scene releases that are High Sierra or later compatible.

    No, what?
    Yes, obviously!
    What is your point?
    Riiight...and?
The member of the OP is on Snow Leopard...Everything he unfortunately paid for which is free to us was for OSX Snow Leopard.
Are we on the same page now? Please?

Thank you, some of these libraries are usual like diva, omnisphere, sylenth, elastik, sampletank, etc i did install aoa earlier version of logicpro x, this machine was with my brother who got an iMac and got everything installed in it so it has been lying there for a long time, the kontakt libraries are important because I have my own samples there, few years ago when I had to replace the motherboard all the plugins asked for serial key and I paid the guy to install it for me,

My plan is to get a dual cpu 8 core mac pro 5,1 and upgrade it to x5690 12 core and add a metal compatible cpu and 32 or 64 gigs of ram run Mohave and keep the plugins as of now until I get a good internet connection and probably with someone's help can download the updates and go to Catalina via patcher and have all 64 bit plugins, as of now I just want to remove the bootloader and kexts so i can update the os safely to Mohave and still use the old ones until I get paid

How do I get in touch with you?

    Not you, you knobber! lol
The person I was talking to @6ixcore :deep_facepalm:
If you'd paid attention you wouldn't be saying this! lol. :mates:

Which should all still work on the bootable clone, so all good.
All mine did, after the transition.
BUT I was using the same hardware and I'm macOS not hackintosh...
If the mobo is going to be a different one, I don't know.
    But we'll find out.
Everything is doable in the long run anyway.
As you would in Mojave too...
    Or Sierra. Or High Sierra.
Snow Leopard was the last 32/64 bit OS.

    Start convo with me.

argh... you paid money for shared files that can be downloaded for free? or you paid money for runnig installers and automatic installation? or you paid for generated with keygen serial numbers and registration process using tese serial numbers?
    f*** shame... F*** SHAME!
    :deep_facepalm:

    :wtf:
how much? 100 usd? 500 usd? 3000 usd?
why you didn't bought legal licenses for tese products?
or it was 50 usd? or 30 usd?
if you can't pay this money now... maybe you can download pirated software and install it without that guy? as other people doing...

paying for pitated software... this is crazy!
    :suicide:

if software required activation with unique hardware-based code - no. in any case.
    * only if protection was completely removed and software and required any registration/activation.

if software required simple serial number registration - just download keygen or find shared serial number for this software.

    :bash:
how many times you opened kontakt? 1? 2? 3? :snuffy:
    konakt libraries are:
    - samples
    - scripts
    - GUI files (texts and images)
    - snapshots / presets (file with config data)
registration / activation checking by kontakt (and native access app). cracked kontakt don't need licenses for any libraries.
    understand?
this is a way you can use your kontakt libraries on a new computer.
