i always wanted to do that, but did not knew how, and courage maybe missing ...Id wish there was some tutorials on this matter, I would like music management ...Audioz Rec would sound nice
It may be 2021, but nothing has really changed. People can still be excellent liars. Many people still suck at complex mathematics. Lawyers are still some of the best when it comes to screwing people over for money. The music business is still heavily populated by "thieves and gypsys". People get overwhelmed, or think they can handle things for themselves which they cannot. The only real surprise is that they can still find anyone to listen to them complain about it, after already being warned.
Register a business; your own publishing company. Done. Legal fees and paperwork about £300-£500 I think.
People are desperate to get their music out and get signed. That is why they maybe sign contracts with bad conditions. Of course you have the internet, but i guess this still out weights that someone wanted to release your piece of music. There is still no database with reviews about labels. I know it would make the whole label signing process an easier thing to do.
3 things really... Money up front, lack of self control & a complete misinterpretation of legalese. Last edited: Sep 30, 2021
Sorry Oly. Those things are fact and not related to whoever has political power. So in a way I think it is apolitical. But I understand if even that is not allowed... Apologies.
I don't see anyone talking Politics.. But why not keep unnecessary Censorship out as well? What's with the irrational Fear of having to Censor everything?
well most of the time they sign for nothing Just to have their faces on covers n magazines and cause they have Rich parents They Break a market that is already shitty And when you have real talent and you need the money to live You cannot Those A.H have Broken many groups n talents I dont talk about the hip hop or rap community Majors are the scum of the earth Last edited: Sep 30, 2021
Correct. And kept people, 'deal-blocking'. Keeping them on the shelf. Signing brilliant artists just to keep them on the bench, for whatever reasons they have. Maybe to stop their truth coming out; maybe to stop another major getting to them. I don't know. This is a thing. I've seen so much of it. In a way, until my father died, it was almost a bit like it for me... NOT due to richness, but industry contacts and respect. I know many people who were just given deals because of who they know or who their parents are, or who their parents know, et cetera... They get a house out of it, and still end up owing even after having had several top ten hits. And they have to do other work illegally, breaking their contract agreement, just to get by! lol I was told the Christmas #1 in September for 3 years! I know about the 3 album deals and what they entail. All guaranteed #1 albums. Sales irrelevant and fake. Just pushed on us with much marketing finance. All tech comes from the military too. But we shouldn't go there, eh? May seem "political". lol
In fact, would it be possible you could set up a thread whereby we can ask you about all this? Like a Q&A? So we know more details that aren't specifically stated in the site rules, but just outlined? I mean, I don't question the rules; they are short and sweet and simple enough for anyone to follow (except newbs!). Obviously talking political arguement is not a thing that brings people together; arguing red versus blue, right versus left. Yet this is the same energy as daw vs daw... Which happens all the time. It's the same division as politics really isn't it? And it never goes down well. When Buddha started teaching, there were no rules. Which is how it should be. But...people! lol Eventually there were like 230 rules that had to be created for the monks... But 250+ for the women devotees! lol. Something like those figures, anyway. So I dig that SAiNT has created a very free place here. Can things be re-looked at over time? Do things/people/life change? Can rules change? Rhetorical. Just throwing it out there. We are part of the coolest site that exists, obviously! Last edited: Sep 30, 2021
Most of us are just monkeys wearing pants, and as long as money equals power we'll still be flinging shit at each other and trying to take advantage of others weakness for a false sense of superiority. We can only aspire to be human and perhaps we'll collectively reach that level some time in the future. Record labels are just a syndrome of our collective blindness to our highest possible state.
You talk almost of the matrix version of us, and it's true. But in our inner being we are God-like. To know this, whilst being stuck in this bloody system, is how I believe we will: We all individually have to sustain it, even when there is a new distraction everyday designed to separate us from each other, and most importantly, from our own self. We only need concentrate on our own self. I think discernment is an important concept for the mind, rather than conflict or even negation. We can simply walk past, or sidestep the blow. That's how the kung fu techniques work. Rather than extremes like going the opposite direction, or from polarity to polarity. All analogies, but you know. One of the reaons why people sign shitty deals is the execs and PAs blow smoke up your arse and big you up, and take you out and show the high life. You're at parties in the VIP area with big names! You feel big! You are at industry parties where everything is paid for by Universal. You can obtain anything. And they want you to, and will create hangers on that are like pusher-vampires. I saw it with Amy. She had the biggie; the '3 album deal'. I experienced the same ego-inflating, 'big up' techniques within the martial arts industry too. If they want you, so they can make more money, they will play you. In any industry. Last edited: Sep 30, 2021
