what theme is that @rudolph ?

I rather keep Reaper how it is like so it will be lighter than ever but it shouldn't look any bad either. Fully customizable. I keep it simple, but 100% time I only use it for mixing so I can load 200 plugins and just hit 50% of CPU usage.

Plus, right now we got an option to just look at this screen anyway :

My favourite is still FL and Bitwig is second

Reaper default is hideous I agree. But the dark side imperial theme is my favorite for any daw. It’s the perfect balance between the look of a console & software and it just looks so cool. It’s a shame the reaper devs didn’t use house of white tie’s reaper 6 theme as a default because it would easily be a favorite

Drag 'n Drop might be the most necessary included feature in any DAW these days. Visually, yes, the imagery of the synths / rack extensions in Reason are pleasing to the eye, agreed.
To be honest I do not think I have EVER seen Reaper look as good as that skin does. Yeah man, that looks great. I do not use Reaper as tool of choice, but you should probably tell any Reaper user who wants it and asks where you got it, because that skin is quite stunning.
What is the name of that theme?

I prefer minimalist design and Ableton Live is most aesthetically pleasing DAW to me.

    +1
Bitwig should include an optional minimal GUI skin like Ableton Live for non-touch users. And default orange theme is ugly, they should give more color options

I am not a fan of bulky/huge knobs and faders. Which is why I never liked any LCS theme in Reaper.
My favorite minimal theme for Reaper:

I don't use Cubase but think it's the best looking. I do like clean, flat, unobtrusive, so as a Live user I am fine with its UI. All the channel buttons on the arrange page like solo, pan, etc, get a little hard to discern sometimes.

I would like to also use Studio One, but I can never customize the UI to make it look less cluttered no matter how hard I try. They really need a proper UI designer IMO for the arrange and mixer pages.

To me it's enough to use a multiple display environment and have the freedom to place any windows where i want and to be able to recall different screen sets when needed. Reaper is my DAW of choice and always used the default theme. Studio One, don't know if they improved on the latest update, but it has no screen sets and I felt trapped inside that layout which is cool at the beginning, but slower on the long term.

A huge portion of apple's success has been by making things with aesthetics as a forethought.

Luna is very well done though.

Stock Reaper is one of the worst. But once you apply themes easily the best.

    Yeah, this. Hard agree here.

I've never properly got into Bitwig because the UI is needlessly busy if not straight confusing.

The software itself is dope and does a lot of great things, but to get to those good bits I think a lot of mental investment has to be made to crack the interface.

I use a flat theme that is similar to Ableton for Reaper. I tried Reaper and I think it's better. Ableton is a simplified DAW and while it is loading you can even wash the dishes.
