As I know, 2 presetbanks by Kamui, which I used on my Virus C, sound same as vst emulation. I remember all those sounds.

Even preset comparison was made with VST (cheapest behringer DAC to ADC) vs Virus TI hardware to UAD Apollo. No difference. Preset, effects. Everything same.

But yeah, it kills cpu, not all preset are open (10-20% not working, but C opens perfectly), so it is a bug somewhere. Resampler is not good from internal sample rate, so 48k is better, 88.2 is excellent. But it is free

I hope that Arturia, instead of expanding their product line, improve their current plugins because they aren't that good compared to other emulations (& switch to Vector rather than PNGs for GUIs)

This is kind of exciting. Ensoniq and E-MU made some interesting products, I’d love to see both in digital form.

But how come nobody is still doing any Yamaha emulations?!

Yeah the digital Rolands will probably never happen because of this. Same with Korg and Yamaha, probably. Arturia can never do an ”Arturia Y-Motif-9V”.

I really like the sound of that. I clicked on this channel and it's a goldmine for demos of various vintage gear.
I've sat here for a while now watching different drum machine demos.

What the hell is this?! Looks like an amp head but it's a rhythm box.

I've wondered about this deeply for years. Arturia and others have emulated the CS-80 and DX7 before though. Of course I would love more than just that.

Thanks, I know he mentioned it in the video. I've just never seen a rhythm box so big before.

I want Arturia to emulate this Casio SK-10

I checked it out at Yamaha, they don't have software synthesizers in their range.
You only have a couple of apps for iPhone / iPad.

Yep. UVI has actually done a "VA" of the early CS models (https://www.uvi.net/cs-m.html), and sample-based creations on the SY77 in their Digital Synsations and all of Yamaha's FM gear (including the DX1). But UVI creates their own sounds, they never sample presets - and this is one of their biggest problems IMO, their sound designs aren't that great TBH.

Come to think of it, a lot of the Yamaha instruments I love are ROM-based, so maybe that's a limitation? SY77/99, the Motifs, EX5/7.

The SY99 is also included in IK's Syntronik. And Gospelmusicians has sampled the SY85, SY99 and the EX5 - how he's able to copyright-wise, and explicitly call them "Yamaha" too is beyond me...people are also saying his stuff ain't that great.

Yeah I should have mentioned how the rest of the Yamaha remakes are romplers or Kontakt libraries, not that much on the emulation front sadly. I know emulating a Motif would be extremely complex or any workstation synth tbh.

There's always been a gaping Yamaha hole to be filled. Sure would be nice to see Yamaha realize how many people would actually love their emulations. I'd go nuts for a true emulation of any Yamaha SY model. Oh thanks I forgot about Syntronik.

    Quilcom RazorBlade

The Quilcom Razorblade is a synth inspired by the classic 80’s Ensoniq ESQ-1 and SQ-80 synths.

It’s the result of a lengthy collaboration between me, Tulamide, Kevin Brown and Manfred Plümer. Whilst it’s not a clone it does use the exact same waves extracted from the original ROMs, which are available in the public domain.

Click on the picture to download the zip which contains the FlowStone schematic (not needed for the plugins to work), 32 and 64 bit plugins, a set of amazing banks created by Manfred, a User Guide and the original operating manuals for the Ensoniq synths (to better explain the Waves system).

Most of the operation should be easy to pick up, but there are a few things which needed further explanation, so it’s worth going through the User Guide to get all the details.

    Enjoy!

    Code:
    Link: http://flowstoners.com/quilcom
    Download: http://flowstoners.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Quilcom-RazorBlade-v1.006.zip
Note: I've tested this - it works and sounds pretty good.

that's just another synth that does "pschiiitt".. and no body will be worrying about it after it is released. Just like it was for Reason 12 R2R - a used to be cool DAW but totally useless in 2021 that nobody cares about anymore

I can't get it or other Flowstone plugins to work on my computer. Instruments will only open as effects and won't do nuthing when I put them on in instrument track. That's crazy!

    Nostalgia for me!

    They have added polyphonic glide.
And Pitchbend Hold, where you can play a chord but just bend one note!

Guy of Rhythmic Robot Audio has sampled some old analogue drum machines. Just not that one!
But off the top of my head I remember he did the Korg MiniPops Junior, called it MiniDrums Junior. Looked like that box you found!
And I recommend the WurliBeat and Regal Rhythm if you liked those old analogue boxes.

    edit: Doh!

one of the factory preset :
    lol.png

to use a bitcrusher for this thing... feels wrong on so many level. Atleast 5 out of 10 of the presets have bitcrusher on it.
