Hello,

I would like to extract a kontakt nkr file... would someone be willing to help me with this?
I'm afraid it's almost impossible...but maybe there are some professionals who have the knowledge for this.

some time ago I was wondering same question and I did a research: actually theres no app available to convert kontakt files into wav. Certain Kontakt sample sets (usually commercial ones) are in a monolithic format that can't be broken down into wavs: there is a kind of protection inside

but "impossible is nothing"

I'm sure that for a talented hacker to bypass .nkr protections would be a 15min work. Lets hope someone invents a kontakt-->wav converter

good Topic..! and Answer is- yes...! there is the Way to extract the Samples From nkr Files to Wav..!! and you dont need any Software / or no need to HACK anything..!

Simply load the Patch in Kontakt that contains nkr file, then Save it with samples somewhere to new Folder.! that will create nki and Sample folder with the Wav files...!! *yes* remember..! not Resave to same patch..! btw dont forget to uncheck Compress while saving..!

did you uncheck the Compress while saving? that would be issue sometime..! *yes* or try some different patch..! or different version of Kontakt..if you using kontakt 4.. there is bug in Kontakt 4.. I had same problem.. but now with Kontakt 5 have no problem at all..

 

Yes, I did uncheck the compression option. But..are you sure it is possible to extract protected nkr files just by choosing a "legal" save option?

you know I'm talking about a smaller .nkr file containing the IR samples, wallpapers, and not the bigger .nkx file containing the samples, right?

 

I've never seen anyone manage to open the NKR (Resource) files before. It sounds like they are confused about which files you are talking about.

 

well, once Kontakt managed to start saving all samples, but there were al lot of pop-up screens with errors, in the end he did make an IR-sample map but it was empty.
So..I hope it is indeed possible with another kontakt version. But you are right, I never heard of someone who managed to open the resource container..

You can open .nkr files with any Text Editor (f.e. TextEdit on Mac),
so you can take a look at least at it's content.

These resource files contains just graphics, additional scripts, impulse responses data -
not necessarily vital for the use of a library.

 

you are right, very few people will want/need to hack a resource container, but my case is different as the IR samples are vital.
I want to be able to use them outside kontakt.

 

a hex editor will allow you to extract files and save them outside of the container
