Clipgrab, for Mac & Win. Freeware. it can do video and/or audio capture from various sites.
Also supports .ogg, which I think sounds better than mp3.
I heard YT offers higher bandwidths in their payed plans.

Anyone who converts shitty youtube audio into disgusting mp3 is not qualified to stay on this forum and will therefore be banned.
If you really need to rip audio from youtube, the only option is jDownloader since it is the only app that does not re-encode the stream

 

It depends of what the video uploader uploaded. Some clips have 128kbps, some have 320kbps.

 

There is no audio file on Youtube encoded in 320k
Premium users can listen to files up to 256k, free users up to 192k AAC

 

Been Using IDM for Years, for Video or Mp3 it's just works fine

 

there are plenty of websites that will do this for you, even at higher bitrates. and if it's in a longer stream i use audiohijack but that's mac only.

I'd care not about re-encoding, seeing as AAC @ 128kbps is worse than a vbr 256kbps mp3 from iTunes!

4K viz, yeah.
But the audio; you know what res the AAC audio can be for 4K, right...?
Because otherwise one would just keep it at full rate audio and not convert to mp3; if that were even possible on YT in the first place!

For all the hard-to-find material, YouTube is the most practical source, I can rip audio files that are unfortunately very difficult to find at a better resolution somewhere else
For example, the voices of famous historical figures, TV shows from 40 years ago, rare audiobooks, etc.
It happens sometime that the 128k solution is the only way
For sure I'll never download 128k music from youtube when I know I can get it from other sources in flac loseless

 

Yes, but my point was that I don't think that re-encoding is qoing to seriously harm an already pants (uk) sounding audio.

After installation, open the youtube video you want to rip audio from, right click on the extension icon, and click convert to mp3

 

Another plus for Ontiva. It has a galore of output options. Wav is the only one I need but they have a 3 items per daily limit if that's important to you.

 

JD splits all files and allow to download video, audio, text from YT. They are shown as separate files so you can chose which to keep.

 

I've got JD and I never even knew this until now! lol
