Hmm... Maybe ask someone that actually *has* a UAD system before trying to explain something that you don't understand. You are conflating a completely different method some people use to semi-illegally transfer plugins to different people, with actually running them on the UAD card, and don't really understand what you are talking about.

When you instantiate a UAD plugin in your DAW, the UAD system also loads the DSP programs specifically for that plugin into the hardware card, which executes the actual audio processing DSP part - the plugin in the DAW shuffles the audio data from the DAW, to the card, changes various parameters in the algorithm, and brings the processed audio back to the DAW.

With no hardware, there is nowhere to send the audio, and no DSP to run the actual algorithms. All you have is a GUI that does nothing...

Finally I was able to solve it. You won't believe it, but R2R will make the BIOSTHUTool available for everyone

No just kiddin, guess ya'll feel like myself. Not this shit again.

But seriously, of course we all have things in mind that we personally would prefer. Even though I'm extremely hyped about that myself, we should be realistic about it and we have to keep in mind that xmas and New Years Eve aren't that far away anymore. And everybody who's been around for long enough knows that the big waves usually fall into that time.
It's kind of a tradition but no matter if we have to wait nearly another 4 months (even though i don't hope so) I really hope that it's gonna be as big as 2015/2016 when audioutopia came out of nowhere and R2R and audioutopia blessed us with all those goodies. I've been missing this feeling ever since, even though i can't even think about complaining as last years Happy new year releases already were a bomb and they didn't even tease them like that. That's what really gets me hyped about it.
Of course we had valentine's day 2019 when they dropped all the Plugin Alliance goodies, which showed that they don't only come around with big waves on xmas and new years but from february till new years, there's plenty of time to pass. If they were about to come around with such a big wave end of november, what's gonna be left for the usual new years releases?

That's why i really don't think they will drop it earlier but of course i'm asking myself why they tease it now.

Let's pretend it's really the UAD stuff, as some people here think, maybe the reason for the early announcement, as well for the Picture with the "Savings" means, that we should save our money, because we still need to buy some kind of UAD hardware, but will be able to use all the plugins for free.

And I don't think that buy 1 get 1 free means that there will be Mac releases, cause Are you ready to join to win everything? for me crystal clearly means: Join us WIN users to make use of EVERYTHING that's going to be released

But I still (want to) think that we'll see more ilok related stuff cause since the end of last year, when they showed they defeated ilok i was wondering, why stuff like soundtoys and so on was not within the wave. I really hope for that, but i'd also hope that you are right with cubase and YES, PRO TOOLS... I really don't understand why in every thread about pro tools, people have to ask who still uses pro tools... if you don't like it, it's aight, but keep it to yourself, it doesn't hurt you, just don't download it. i don't use reaper, studio one, ableton live and other daws updated regularly.... and i can see releases of these daws pop up without feeling the need to act like no one uses them, just cause i don't. We do exist and i'd really appreciate to get an update after 5 years. And by the way, i also don't like pro tools for its midi functions, but when it comes to editing, recording, mixing, mastering tasks, i think it's still a great daw.

    just my 2 cents

Interesting way to decipher hidden message in those pics, Google them with Google images.....

Red one for sure is Steinberg we have to wait until Cubase v12 is released so they can do that also, buy one get one free it must be vengeance, since someone told that name "katze" can imply to German products... We have two of them....
BTW i ask myself how some developers feel now.... Must be anxious... Like i am now at 04am... Good night.... Maybe

WHAT IF R2R DID MADE A CUSTOM DSP FOR THE UAD TO WORK ON THE COMPUTER CPUS??
THEY FIXED THE FAULTY SLATE DIGITAL PLUGIN WITHOUT ANY SOURCE CODE SO NOW THERE ARE MANY POSSIBILITIES.

I am thinking the same, but not so loudly....

I played the game and figured it out! :hifive:

If you run the Seagate Drive backwards, it says "Paul is Dead" and if you read the fine print on the drive, it has the address of a Nursing Home where Elvis has been hidden from the public. Phew!! Everything we needed to know in one message. We have been enlightened by the Gods. Lets all go to bed now and rest easily! Thank you R2R!! :chilling:

Are you ready to buy some expensive hardware without any guarantee of receiving plugins updates? What will you do if UAD reinforce their protection and if R2R is not able to break it again, or even decide to keep updates internal as they've done for many products? I will never take that risk.

Edit: You can be sure that within minutes of their plugins release, UAD will suspend the sale of the hardware until they have tightened their protection.

here's a good story .. there is not only UAD as SHARC DSP system .. think of SONIC CORE (ex Creamware) .. it's GERMAN .. "katze" means CAT .. SONIC X (Big the Cat) is a famous character from the Sega Sonic the edgehog ... too much fantasy? :disco:

Not same sound, uad update plug-in, and now it’s doesn’t sound like Dimension D, because license rent - over.
developer of algorithm is Arturia. Now, if you need this sound from old Uad dimension D, you can use Arturia dimension D.
Same goes to many uad plug-ins - they algorithms developed by other manufacturers.
In world of Vst/vsti - it’s normal story.

same goes inside many plug-ins, one algorithm under a different name(plug-in manufacture) and cover (plug-in name and gui)

What delights me the most about this R2R announcement is knowing that Sunny being banned from the top-sites, he will see 8 terabytes of data pass under his big raptor nose... without earning a single kopeck.

Are you saying that the current uad Dimension D was developed by arturia? What is the source of the evidence

Can’t find the source now, it was on uad forum, around year ago. if you have Studio D Chorus and Arturia, you can compare.
    Same goes to Steinberg quadrafuzz
With Cubase 8.5(i guess) they replace original QF with quadrafuzz v2 - with different interface, and, what’s most important, totally different sound.
    License expired.

All I want to say: don’t think every company develop individual algorithms for their plug-ins. it’s not how it work in business.

Has anyone noticed how optimized the new slate vmr is? Loading a vmr rack takes only two FLS slots and loading additional vmr racks takes zero additional FLS slots.
Cpu/asio meter in cubase isnt even moving, with two racks and bunch of modules. :wow:

    You are right.

I am a user of Slate All Access Pass. Compared with AudioUtopia's VMR 1.5 release, the legit version of Slate has gone a long way, with excellent CPU usage and optimized response.
I have also compared the release of R2R, the scanning is faster, but the response is no different than All Access Pass VMR 2.0.

Just tried the RET version, wow, after removing WHITEBOX, they are as fast as lightning!!!!!!!!

METAFORTRESS has been conquered, and I can't see why Slate Digital wouldn't remove it.
From R2R's NFO, they claim they can handle it in 30 minutes, which means R2R may have written anti-obfuscation automation plugins or scripts, which is not really safe for Slate and only significantly increase the burden on CPU and memory.

This is next level optimization, i have never seen such optimization in any plugin tbh.
You could probably use these on an old laptop with no problems.

wait what ? I use Melda Shaper a lot, it is simple but effective, but the peak (of the processed sound) is always altered in a way that it will go through the limit even with auto-gain enabled, normally when I use inflator, I get more volume but the peaks stays where it should especially after limiting. I read in Reaper forum someone is trying to re-make the Inflator using JS Script also found something weird about its coding and yet to understand what it does. Are we going to assume just because it can null a sine wave, it will have the same effect with a limited track ?

    well … MTransientMB is around $120 / Inflator around $150 … that's not such a big difference

Sorry, but this is utter crap.

UA modelled the Roland Dimension D hardware and released it in 2005. At this time, Arturia were working on "Storm" and had barely developed a single audio plugin.

UAD's Roland's brand license expired a year or two later, which meant they could no longer use the Roland *name* and branding, so they left the Roland version as it was for people who bought it (hi!) *and* introduced a new version of the plugin which was *exactly the same* but had a slightly different GUI without the Roland branding (same for the Boss chorus plugin). This was the version that would be sold from then on, and was free to owners of the Roland-branded version (hi!). There are no sound differences between the two, and yes I have them both.

UA have an *excellent* modelling team, so to think they would ask Arturia, a company at that time who had yet to develop a single plugin (and who's Storm product was almost universally given fairly poor reviews) is ludicrous.

Roll on some 15+ years later, and Arturia model and develop their own version of the DimD (which, typical of Arturia, seems to take forever to load). It sounds good, and sounds pretty similar to the UA version because they are both modelling the same hardware, and both are competent at doing this now. If they sounded significantly different, then at least one of them would suck at modelling.

But basically, all your points are provably incorrect, the UAD plugin sounded no different when they changed the GUI, it wasn't developed by Arturia (who simply weren't capable of modelling this stuff well back then) and they don't use the "same algorithm" being developed by completely different teams in different parts of the world, with different tools, for different target platforms, 15+ years apart.

Presumably you have neither a UAD card, or either of the UAD Dimension D plugins, and have just believed some random dude on the internet who probably said the Arturia one sounds like the UA one (and therefore is a good native alternative - it is) and translated that into some weird origin story - the thing is, no-one bothers to check their facts these days.

(Yes, some developers license technology or use developers from other companies to develop their plugins. This has nothing to do with this specific case you are talking about here.)
