It's like printers changing. There was a time when printers were very expensive. One day, they realised that people will have to buy cartridges for the life of the printer non-stop. So they made the printers dirt cheap and hiked up the price of the consumables. It's all about money and for me, any subscription-based model for something you use all of the time benefits only the manufacturer. Imagine if supermarkets, clothing stores, everything was subscription-based? FFS, nobody could afford it. This might be the dumbest thing Propellerheads have ever done for their user-base. I see a lot of people jumping ship to another DAW.
