Hi guys. I'm trying to make a short video tutorial, but I can't find the way of setting up the audio coming from the DAW. I believe that Camtasia and my audio interface are not friends. Maybe I need extra software to record the audio coming from the DAW. Any idea guys.

    Thanks.....

Check out OBS Studio. It does what you need and so much more. Its free on their web site.

You won't need camtasia anymore. OBS has unlimited recording and streaming with video and audio effects.

That pain in ass. You have to switch audio driver in your Host to WASAPI on Win or Core on Mac because system audio is using this driver.

What interface and DAW, do you have a loopback feature?

When I do videotuts with DAW I've to select the "what you hear" output device in the sound srttings. It still discards ASIO on the DAW if memory serves.

Thanks Xupito. Camtasia record audio from YouTube, but not from the DAW.

ive used camtasia in the past (those fuckers still havnt implemented ASIO support like 10+ years?)

the solution was to record the audio with voxengo recorder. https://www.voxengo.com/product/recorder/

well OBS is fine - okay their compression is kind of weird imo. THats why i always prefered camtasia. Also camtasia lets you after recording simply edit the video with stuff, its fast and easy apart from lining up the audio, which was recorded with voxengo.

Easiest and most efficient way to do and get all working without much fiddling, is to get FL STUDIO Asio driver.
So, go and download FL STUDIO Demo, install it and it will install driver along with that.
Use it any software, I use it with OBS, and records directly from DAW.
So settings to make are more than simple , make your main driver in the DAW, as FL STUDIO Asio, no more steps needed.

All recording software will get audio like from wasapi or from old full duplex drivers.

There is a little flaw with FL STUDIO, because for that purpose it requires a lot of cpu power, and if you have weak CPU, or a heavy project you will sometimes get glitches and crackles, and dropouts, but if you have good hardware, it is easiest way to avoid, banana drivers, virtual cables and everything which is complicated to setup.
OBS supports and have native ASIO drivers, but just for recording inputs from your card, what you hear can not.
ASIO OBS drivers are third party and you can get them from github, just Google for it.

    I hope that helps :)

You have to think of it this way - when you play audio (at once) from your software (DAW, browser, player, standalone instrument,..) it goes to your interface outputs. Your recording, streaming,.. software needs inputs and most of these SWs have one input only.

You have to route output to the input of your interface. The capability of the interface to connect output to input (internally) is called loopback. Then you have your outputs playing as inputs and you can further mix them with something like microphone, which is an input anyway.

Interface can have full loopback routing capability (RME) a fixed one (MOTU M4, Audient,..) or none. RME supports multi-client operation and ASIO + WDM can be used on the same channels simultaneously (I would advise it for any serious tutorial, streaming, podcast work)

As far as I can tell, UR44 should have loopback capability. Never tried it though, so you should check if and how it works for yourself. If that doesn't work, you can set up a software mixer/node like Voicemeeter Potato/Banana or similar. I've done it for some teachers, but it's not really intuitive ..it's a PITA

I still think the simplest solution is to set the soundcard record option to "what you hear" or equivalent.
Like I said, this probably forces you to use WASAPI on your DAW instead of ASIO.
For sure there're more advanced solutions like some posted here.

is this fast to setup? i mean voxengo recorder takes 1 min setup, even faster when using a template.
Line up the video with the recorded sound takes 2 mins.
