364 VST plugins from 38 vendors, 226 plugins supported, 138 unsupported plugins (I'm working on it! ;)), 28,904 presets (no typo!).
Initial Plugin DLL search> 45 seconds
Loading plugin metadata (only done once unless the Plugin DLL changes)> about 4 minutes
Loading plugin presets into the database >about 8 minutes
Converting 28,904 presets to NKS >3 minutes 30 seconds

amazing concept.. but no mac support (at least yet.. ticket item not entirely promising). Will keep an eye on this though, huge potential. thanks for share

I do like a challenge and one of my philosophy of life is: "Find the solution to that problem!". The problem solving approach I typically use is the divide-and-conquer approach: Breaking down a large, complex problem into smaller, solvable problems.
The prerequisites for PresetMagician on Mac OS X are:

• Stick with C# as programming language to avoid rewriting PresetMagician from scratch, and being able to share code between both platforms. Using Xamarin.Mac, it's possible to develop native Mac OS X applications using C#.
• Acquiring Mac hardware capable of running the latest Mac OS X version. I know that it's possible to run OS X inside a virtual machine, but the legal status of doing so is questionable at best. Providing PresetMagician as commercial software means that I'm not only responsible to avoid legal problems, but also to the PresetMagician user base.

The preliminary roadmap for PresetMagician on OS X is:

• Porting VST.net to .NET Core and porting the C++ portion of VST.net to OS X
• Refactoring the code of PresetMagician so that most of the code can run using .NET Core. This means that only the GUI code of PresetMagician will remain platform-specific
• Implement the GUI for PresetMagician Mac OS X using Xamarin.Mac

Even though the list is pretty short, it is still a long way for PresetMagician OS X. You can track the progress of PresetMagician OS X on the PresetMagician issue tracker. Make sure you subscribe to the feature request, so you get updates!

 

this is a great idea. I wonder if anyone can chime in and provide some feedback after trying Preset Magician.

 

I grabbed a trial license a while back and this is what it found. My biggest need is getting non-nks Kontakt libraries converted over, major pain.

I use it, it's awesome. There's still a level of manual work that needed to be done for some of the plugins i use. But it's a super time saver with the audio previews

 

Thanks Pirate,I'm a maschine junkie and browsing/previewing nks presets on the maschine studio is such a time save when im feeling creative or just bored discovering new sounds. Cheers mate.

Are you also having problems with getting PM to make audio preview of Omnisphere?
I will make the NKSF files but no preview ogg files.

Can someone help me understand... If I install WIn10 via parallels, and run PM how would it scan for VST's if my VST's are for OSX. Would I need to have WIN versions of the VST or will it not matter so long as it sees the OS X vst?

Iv put my old License to an extra File within the Archive, but i think you dont need it anymore. This Tool is not to be continued but it still works.
