it’s definitely a love hate thing…. I hate that over sexualized industry plants make more money off of other peoples work. I love that people like Julia Michaels can write lyrics for “artists” like Dua Lipa or Selena Gomez & sing background vocals on massive hits yet nobody has ever heard of her… I hate the song camp approach to pop music only that it has been watering down the masses harmonic & lyrical pallet for 2 decades now. I’m not speaking about lack of jazz chords or intermodal changes per se, but I am speaking directly to record companies who setup camps for the sole purpose of making paper plate music. They also take the humanity out of a song by over refining things. Like everything starts to sound the same when it’s the same 5 people in a room trying to make a single piece from 5 different brains…. Art and commerce has always made strange bedfellows, but it’s just ridiculous today how much commerce has completely cucked art. Like the business side has completely neutered the art…. Yes I have guilty pleasures. I love me some Ariana Grande’s new album & POV is truly a good song IMO lol….

I had no idea it's such few people having such a tremendous influence, not just in terms of money and business, but in terms of songwriting and composition.
Sure, it would be cool to know more about how they do it. Although I suppose, if you know about composition basics, then you'd be well equipped to write catchy melodies.

It's the gatekeeping of Pro Tools playing chess on acid inside of a WoW game while the Olympics are doing back-flips for justice since the gates are kept open for winkly tit slime balls behind a desk. Don't even look up Nickelodeon, I swear. Resembles nothing in music at all. You'll see.

People can use Reaper or anything else to color inside the lines of the coloring book as much as they damn well please. They aren't the boss of coloring.

My cat colored my bed last night, it was a note that only my sub-woofer seems to refer to when I didn't even ask for that Waverider, do you see? It's brownish in color. *Shrugs* They still my pets even if they shit so suddenly.

Writing camps have always existed. Maurice White heavily relied on them to write most of the hits for earth wind and fire. The musicians on those sessions were always of a high calibre though...

    His secret?
30 minions who work for him. Its like with famous movie composers, there is a small factory behind them.
At this stage he can afford to have a chain of people work for him.

Successful actually means: "Who earns the most money"
The decisive factor is not the quality of the songs, but how much of them you sell. The crowd pays to live in a dream, under no circumstances should your brain be strained with complicated texts and notes.

The "Max-Martin-Sound" is characterized above all by classic verse / chorus song structures, whereby the choruses are always emphasized and their mostly eight-bar memorable form lead to a catchy tune. The chorus usually also forms the hook line of the song, but there are often other hook lines in the most varied of forms, so that the songs are quickly recognized even by uninterested listeners. Also typical are modulations of the last chorus repetitions in a higher key as well as overlapping choruses in which several vocal parts merge. In general, the singing is in the foreground, the background consists mainly of synthetic sounds, often enriched with guitars and always with a strong, very haunting rhythmic beat.https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Martin_(Musiker)

I've heard he has a 47 inch long penis, and that gives him so much self confidence he can write music without ever second guessing himself.

Wow who can do something "Justin Bieber" - and then the great world musicians "Backstreet Boys"!
Thanks Martin for all the musical rubbish - we always made a few million ...! Keep it up...make more Money...!

And the press then also takes it by the mouth! Here are the original texts from the would-be music editors from Germoney:

From the first record deal to a hit guarantee

It all began as so often: Karl Martin Sandberg, his real name, played in a Swedish funk metal band. With this group, »It's Alive«, he landed a record deal with Denniz PoP at the beginning of the nineties. A key moment in his life. The owner of the Cheiron Studios in Stockholm quickly recognized Martin's talent and taught him the craft of composing and producing. The first commercial successes resulted: the Rednex song "Wish You Were Here" seems to swing around in the head of many people only at the slightest thought. It didn't take another year before they went into the studio together with the Backstreet Boys. The story could end here if it weren't for countless other successes with great artists such as Bon Jovi, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera or Justin Bieber. Even Adele and Taylor Swift, both of whom are known to be reluctant to give up the scepter, trusted in the Swedes' ability. Source: https://www.delamar.de/musikbusiness/max-martin-49776/

If people are interested in his "secrets" then why not just analyze every track he's ever done and look for patterns in it?

Like someone mentioned in the thread, Ian kirkpatrick. He produces for Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez, Jason Derulo, Charli XcX, etc.. One of the big heads and probably the only one that is so open about it, he has a youtube and twitch channel and essentially streams himself making music on cubase so you get to know all of it, and he has a huge tongue, he won't be secretive and stuff, he usually talks a lot about the business, it's pretty open.

Also he created a discord, you get to talk to him and others, there is a competition section where you make beats and songs on different criterias and he takes a look once in a while, feels like the clearest ladder to the top if you ask me. And if you're good enough.
