x-force is one of the oldest cracker group around. X-force, they've been around even before AiR started and they got members whose already considered a "cracking guru", i was thinking what if they can crack wibu and i-lok if only they'd start working on it? ...the x-force plugins group may not be as expert as the old-timers around x-force but maybe they can ask help from those members?

or if R2R and x-force would team up maybe they can do it. ...or maybe they can't and it was just a fantasy.

Well, they had time enought to try, so obviously the answer is: They just cannot do it.

Software protection companies have fought a long battle, and as a matter of fact one can say: Finally they won. *yes*

 

What if we don't need software that spend more money on protection than on development?

 

Well if they can, it would mean all East West Play libraries could be shared.

 

All sample libraries can be replaced, and as Kontakt does not have a good protection implemented, one still can grab those libs.

But Cubase cannot be easily replaced, so I guess all customers have to finance the protection, and obviously they do.

I don't mean by warez, I mean by software who's developers are more concentrated in their users than in security.

Besides , trying a DAW for 30 days is far to be enough for serious work.
So those daws which are accessible for more time, may end up bought just because you'r finally sure that this i what you need and that it worth the price.

 

Well, I should have said: Replaced by an equally powerful DAW.

But I guess there's different opinions about that.

Fact is, most users don't care about the protection, Steinberg has no problem making money with their products.

yea. what if someone's already cracked the wibu key or the ilok2. He just doesn't share it 'coz they'll gonna change the protection once they knew.
and if that happens he will no longer be able to enjoy newer stuff from slate digital and sequoia o_o

anyway, i think nebula3 is still better than slate digital. and i <3 Reaper coz it's so light on system resource i can run nebula3.

 

Of course they do that for free, I didn't say otherwise. And at least R2R have the character to admit that they cannot crack some protection schemes.

But those childish fantasies about groups teaming up to give us the great gift of a cracked dongle are just ridiculous.

Cracking a dongle protection 'just for fun' is too much work - too much work without any real rewards (unless you are a criminal who wants to sell the stuff). So it's not likely to see a cracked iLok ever.

 

Even if it gets crack.. I'm pretty sure the protection company will notice what they did and ban or disable or simple update the software to patch the ilok.

Since the program need the ilok to start.. its pretty hard to bypass it. Only option is a really good emulator. It's not like companies won't notice as soon as someone crack it.

Also crack groups have like 2-10 people maximum working on different projects. You will need to have 20%/30% of your team working on a hard puzzle that might not even be worth solving.


Reason/Cubase/Pro tools are not top notch and hardly offer anything that any other DAW out there does. If you really think your production will increase by having/acquiring this daws.. you will have an easier way to just buy it.

Same goes for software like softube or UAD (You still need hardware for UAD).

 

I'm pretty sure that I-Lok and many other percievably hard to crack plugins have already been cracked by the genius reverse engineers out there...but most releases manage to stay VERY internal...

We shouldn't really talk about release groups...most of them hate us so we can never ask or request anything from them...

Next, alot of people in the scene have families now and have moved on...they don't give twwooooo shits...

the days of l33t have long ended. 2010 was the final year for all the big groups...

 

Doesn't matter, a lot of people are quite grateful as they still can use Cubase 5 due to Airs' efforts.

If s.o. would bring Cubase 7 I guess many people would be happy for years to come.
